Anyway, the first female judge to officiate a world title fight was Emma De Urrunaga. Roberto Duran vs Hector Thompson. 1973. So now you all know.

Apparently Duran banged her at the post-fight party.

ps. One of these sentences is fictional.

Eva Shain was the first female to judge a World Heavyweight Championship fight. Good catch though. Thanks.

Are you talking about Turpin pushing his gloves together?

Was he trying to force the horse hair in his gloves away from the knuckle part?

Thats legal. It's called 'skimming' the gloves.

Pretty close to it... he actually used the opened right hand to roll over the left hand.... basically to close the left fist as tight as possible... Robinson says the effect created a rock like jab, and this method pissed him off immensely.

Pontius.... out of interest, how did you find out about JWHT Douglas..... its a pretty obscure piece of info.. Re: His father being the Ref in 1908 at the games......

'Snowy' Baker, having recieved the silver medal, was Oz's only silver madalist, until 'Spike' Cheney, In Soule '88, took the same.. Hence, the question was easy to answer, for myself anyway..

Just inquizitive about your depth of interest in the game, and how you came about the question...

I saw it during a British documentary called "Ring of the rings" a while ago. It focused on olympic boxing mostly.
