    I know Jersey Joe Walcott himself refereed title fights... but I think there was a black referee in one of his fights with Charles.

    Yes, that's right. Zack Clayton was the answer to the question. He refereed Walcott and Charles. Look back over the thread.

    Yes, Stanley. South African. Primarily a WBA official for most of his career as a judge and referee. The third man in the ring for the Pryor-Arguello battle. :good
