Eagle eye LMcS you are indeed correct Mattioli defended his title against Obed.
12 months later losing the title in San Remo Italy to Maurice Hope of the UK by 9th round TKO. :patsch

No probs mate, was a little inside joke between myself and someone else, have been searching high and low for a copy of Mattioli-Dagge for quite awhile now for no luck.

Evander Holyfield KO 10 Michael Dokes, Caesars Palace - Las Vegas.
Holyfield stopped Dokes in 10 of 12, and sadly is fronting up in a month's time against Botha for the vacant WBF title at 47 1/2 years of age!

Jose Luis Ramirez (Mexico) W 12 Pernell ‘Sweet Pea’ Whitaker (USA) – Paris, France.
Ramirez retains his WBC lightweight title inflicting Whitaker’s first loss in what was a hotly disputed SD. Whitaker would avenge this loss with a desive UD about 18 months later and go another ten years before tasting defeat again (v De La Hoyer).

    Markus Beyer (Germany) W 12

    (Australia) - Zwickau, Germany.
This was Beyer vs Green II (following Green’s DQ for deliberate head clash in their first meeting) and Beyer retained his WBC super middleweight title by fairly close points margin (one judge actually had it even).

So many fights....just dont see anything like it anymore......who's had the most fights?....Willie Pep must be half a chance at 240 odd?

    Edit: Maybe this guy......

Len Wickwar is the proud record holder of the most boxing fights ever fought with an incredible 467 bouts to his name. Born in 1911, the Leicester boxer won 337 boxing fights in a career spanning 21 years.
From 1926 to 1947 Wickwar amassed a total of 467 contests, beating the best at his weight

You've done well to dig that one up , amazing stats.
Would make an interesting thread ' the 200 + Fight Club "
Johnny Dundee was 300 + and Young Stribling probably would have made
300 but for his untimely death at 28 years.
Of the modern fighters Archie Moore was one who cracked the 200 barrier
One things for sure you would need to be a good defensive boxer to survive
    these long careers.
I'll leave it to the experts to comment furthur on this subject.

Tend to agree mate...it would be interesting to know when they stopped doing fights to the finish?...then staging 15 rounds....and then down to todays 12 rounds?

Edit: I did find this but it's not from an official source as such......so dont know if its right

The last 2 fighters to participate in a fight to the finish were Sam
Langford and Jim Savage who fought in 1923 at the Plaza de Toros in
    Mexico City.

    and

The last title fight scheduled for more than 15 rounds was:
Joe Louis vs. Bob Pastor (scheduled for 20 rounds)

Maybe one of the boxing brains on here can add to this?

Soooo much to be said... Tend to agree though.. I'll leave it to the experts and boxing brains too..

P.S... Tiger Donnelly .. former OZ flyweight Champ had claims to over 500 fights.
