I'm not sure how to feel about this. We know what Thailand's problems for match-making, but not showing any fights for two months? First the WBA, now this? Boxrec isn't doing itself a favor by acting this way.

BoxRec used to be much better, they now omit upcoming fights for various reasons, and that's not good for the website or for the sport.

Lately they are often days behind in updating results. They need some better volunteers.

CharlieZ was correct. Fakerec is more like it. That said 0-1 always and forever.

Since BoxRec removed the WBA stuff it has become a bit of a pain in the you-know-where.

Whats funny is that even before that it was somewhat difficult to keep track of who was the real WBA champion.

Hi @Chuck Norris, glad you're alive. I have to admit to being ignorant about this situation. What is the reason BoxRec is doing this?

Let's get serious for a minute. Despite the rumours, Chuck Norris was never going to be dead.

I'm totally against it. Thailand will be in the shadows in two months, and then what? How is this going to suddenly boost boxing there?

Furthermore, there are some interesting names who are top-level boxers to watch in their respective weight classes, such as Petch CP Freshmart, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, Thananchai Charunphak and Aran Dipaen. This will only further hinder the arrival of new boxers from the country. And if you're going to block Thailand for matchmaking reasons, go all the way and block Georgia, Russia, France, Germany, and others.

Matchmaking in Germany and Albania is by far the most dangerous in the world. In Thailand, boxers with zero professional fights often have 200 or 500 Muay Thai fights; in Germany, they're complete unknowns (watch the lastest victories for example of Jose Larduet or Tom Schwarz you will understand) ; in Albania, it's the same story unknowns who never did any martial sports before...

I miss the old Box Rec layout. The newer site is jank

I don't know the details around this black out but it seems like a drastic decision that benefits nobody. Incomplete records should be the absolute last resort for any record keeper.

What does Boxrec think it is, a sanctioning body?

Also there are some questionable Thai boxing matches but putting a blanket ban on updating fights for a whole country seems ridiculous. Imagine if boxrec did that to the UK and the US, it would be laughable.

I don't know really. Boxrec doesn't want fixed fights or dodgy officiated fights. They are kind of doing the same thing with IBA (although things have kind of changed), the problem with the WBA started with FightFax, trying to muscle in. If it makes Thai promoters clean their act, I'm all for it, but it seems confusing to me at least.
