I agree that this HW era is weak but Wlad has fought basically every legitimate contender that there is to fight...besides Pulev of course. What other legitimate fights are there for him after that? Fury? Wilder?

I give him credit for facing his mandatory opponents, but that is pretty much the point, ABC orgs have weakened boxing. Using a unified top 10 shows just how weak its become. I'm not blaming him, it is how it is, but it's an illustration of why it can never be looked at as anything more than below average. That isn't even taking into consideration the terrible skill level of most contenders today. No defense, no body work, shoddy stamina etc, etc.

I agree with you Jab here. But I dont think it exactly sucks thou.

I dont know but for me these fukin crooked boxing organizations and promoters have ruined the division. Challengers dont earn the title shots today anymore. They dont fight each other to see who deserves the shot for champ. So much wrong.

Thank you. And I agree the orgs and promoters deserve most of the blame. Whats sad is when Wlad retires its only going to get worse. I may pick a lot, but he's a good champion bogged down by alphabet soup.

I like what you've done here, this is a great effort.

I first thought you made a mistake by not listing Byrd twice, but you're right, for the 2nd Byrd fight (April 2006) Byrd doesn't appear in the end of 2006 rankings, after losing to Wlad. The funny thing is he was #1 ranked in April 2006 for the year 2005. Also Sanders wasn't #3 before beating Wlad, he became #3 because of beating Wlad.

However, as you said it's a level playing field for all. Let's do this list again when Wlad is retired.

Why you don't take the rating Thema guys had when they fought Wladimir?
    For fact:
    Povetkin 1
    Byrd 1
    Haye 2
    Chagaev 2
    Ibragimov 3

Wladimir is one of the few guys who almost everytime fought the next best challenger

I don't know if the stats are 100% accurate, but I for one appreciate the effort. Nice work.

You obviously have reading comprehension problems. Go back and SLOWLY read the opening post again. The formula is sound and its fair.

If you would like to do the work of finding every monthly ranking for all fighters involved than feel free. Since I don't have access to all that this is a fair and reasonable way to gauge these era's. After Wlad retire this will be a good thread to revisit as Madballster has pointed out.
