Whenever I read your posts mate, I think to myself, this is a bloke that actually believes that Mundine beat Geale in their rematch. That pretty much tells me how much credit I should give you for your knowledge of boxing.
He also mistakenly believes Mundine's win over Geale in their first fight was a unanimous decision. If you direct him to Boxrec for proof he then questions Boxrec's credibility The troll doesn't know **** about boxing :yep
The paralympian who shot his hot Girlfriend? yeah now he thought it was a intruder had broken in and shot her through a door accidentally. I hope not but he's famous probably rich and can afford the South African equivalent of Cochrane.
What we do know is that briggs should never of been allowed to fight, especially for a "world title".
So who's fault is that in the end? the authorities? Green and his team? or Briggs? My answer would be the authorities. If there is any speculation over the fitness of a racehorse, the stewards call in their own vet and scratch the horse if need be..... They take the decision out of the trainers and owners hands to protect the public
I think its mainly grinning greenys fault. he set the fight up and moved it to perth after nsw shut it down... he was determined to have that fight.
1. The IBO for sanctioning it in the first place. 2. Green for moving heaven and earth to make it happen even after the N.S.W.C.A canned the fight. They knew he was broke too advanced him 20k of his purse to pay bills(put bets on the round 1 KO more like it) 3. Briggs for taking the dive.
I want to forgive briggs because this fight has been a blight on an otherwise sensational fighter. Also a boxing anaiyst and public representative of the sport. But as long as the fight is remembered (a long time yet) he and green will fairly cop all the **** that comes their way. It was a pile of **** from square one. No one wanted it, it shouldn't have been sanctioned, everything was shonky from the top down. it should be a case study on how not to make a world title fight also green lost a lot of respect for trying to nab a decent name in a very cheap move
Lose the e-hardman act it's ridiculous (especially when we have all seen you spar". You can go and see him if you're this upset by a boxing forum. Pretty sure you said you were never gonna read or respond to my posts again. Shouldn't you be out looking for some disadvantaged boxer to move up your computer rankings for Green? I wouldn't be surprised for you to say Ali has racked up enough IBO points in the past to challenge Green. "To be the greatest you have to beat the greatest" :rofl You let an obese, brain damaged, worn, broke and desperate fighter in Briggs fight for your title and embarrassed boxing. Mundine was robbed, get over it. Desperation you little creep :rofl Who knew an accurate description of Danny's opponents would get you so worked up: To be fair to Briggs: Career Lt Heavy Dominguez The Shell of RJJ The Ghost of Siaca An Old Tarver Flores, Cameron totally drained at Dannyweight Wlod off the back of a suicide attempt Santiago off the back of a KO Danny had wheeled out these opponents for a specific reason, easy money and all with a weakness. It is absolutely conceivable that he boiled a brain damaged Briggs down and only gave him 5 weeks to prepare. How was it the second time? A travesty.
If you girls seen the Video Footage Zelky leaked you would ask yourselfs why on earth did Green let this go ahead. Its that dam bad, the guy video recording it (Zelkythegrub) didnt even realise he was recording a train wreck occuring, nor did he get permission from anyone to record the session, thus sht hit the fan when he uploaded it to the internet for all to see.
I saw it, it was filmed from above and Briggs was getting his ass handed to him and he was just taking a beating. He almost looked as bad as Zelky did in his own sparring video. http://www.smh.com.au/news/sport/video-clip-prompted-punters-to-pile-on-green/2010/07/23/1279391958472.html FOOTAGE posted on YouTube of an out-of-condition Paul Briggs sparring is believed to have sparked the unprecedented betting plunge on Wednesday night's fight with Danny Green. The video, of Briggs sparring middleweight Peter Mitrevski jnr, shows the 34-year-old virtually getting hit at will, with action at one minute and 14 seconds showing Briggs getting punched while his hands are by his side. Mitrevski jnr is clearly going half-paced and constantly finding holes in Briggs's defence. Briggs yesterday admitted he was not in any condition to have stepped into the ring to take on Green for his IBO cruiserweight title, during which he went down to a left jab that hit the top of his head, counted out just 29 seconds into the bout. ''I didn't take a dive,'' Briggs told Channel Nine. ''Never in my life have I taken a dive.'' Asked if he was ready, Briggs replied: ''In my mind, yeah. Rationally, maybe not.'' Rumours quickly swirled around Briggs's lack of conditioning early in his preparation, and the video was posted on YouTube on July 5. By the time punters got word of Briggs's problems, whispers pointed them towards the sparring footage. Briggs's part-time trainer, Jeff Fenech, then publicly gave him no chance of winning bar a miracle, and punters were convinced. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were bet on the day of the fight for Green to win inside the first round. Briggs's trainer, Billy Hussein, last night said the fighter could not be talked out of the bout because he was so desperate for money, despite showing clear signs of neurological problems including memory loss. ''Jeff told me two weeks before the fight to pull him out. I spoke to Paul and he said there was no way he would pull out, he wanted to knock out Danny Green and he believed he could do it,'' Hussein told the Herald. ''Regardless of if I had pulled out of camp, he would have fought. He would have found another trainer. I wanted to be there for him as a mate. I wanted to make sure he was going to be OK in there. He kept telling me, 'Don't worry. Billy, come fight night I'll be sweet'. ''If he didn't go down to that shot, if he had taken a bigger punch, I would have thrown in the towel. I was there to protect a guy who was adamant he was going to fight.'' Briggs, who has separated from his partner and has two children, was so desperate for cash he had earlier approached Anthony Mundine and his manager Khoder Nasser for a fight in the hope of a big payday, but was knocked back and told they would rather give him money if he needed it. He was then made an offer by Green two days after he announced he would be staying retired, and for a boxer without a cent to his name despite numerous wars in the ring, this was his one last shot for fame and fortune. Briggs was stunned at the claim he threw the fight. ''I'm speechless,'' he said. ''I've got enough to worry about in facing Danny Green than to think about fixing a fight. ''It's a bitter pill to swallow, that pill of reality, when you understand that you're not the man that you were. I know when my adrenaline really started to kick in before I even walked out in to the ring, everything just went sideways. I was saying to Billy when he grabbed in the middle of the ring - he said, 'Brother are you all right?' I said, 'Did he hit me with an elbow?' It felt like I got hit with a piece of metal on top of my head.'' Briggs has refused to take Green's calls since the fight. ''I'm not interested in anything Danny's got to say,'' he said. ''Danny rang me six or seven times the next morning, but I'm not interested in taking calls.''
