Styles makes fights always, never forget Leati: Alex beat Nath and got beat by Col, Nath beat Col and on and on it goes. Don't put too much stock into the other, Nath just fought the wrong fight period and had already beaten Mick before. This is more indicative of the heavyweight division we have in this country. Although more intriguing for years and it certainly beats watching Joe clean out Fiji's heavyweights, we do not have much that can compete on the world stage TBH

:good true phil but coming from alex's way of fighting style if he fought kirby he would stand toe 2 toe with him & i repeat what i posted earlier if he had listen to his brother and fight his fight the results would of differ.....hey just looking at the ANBF ranks, aussie H/W's are looking good:good

Can hoppa challenge 4 the OPBF if he still holds the Aussie title?

True about Nathan's result, don't forget Alex already beat Mick for the exact same title, and Mick knows how to spoil Alex and work his weaknesess. Toe to toe? Don't think we could be assured of that!

No. Under ANBF rules he would have to relinquish his national title before fighting for the OPBF: It's a regional :deal

ask as many questions as you like mate! :thumbsup

It's different to other divisions as though the work rate from both fighters is lower you have your hands full with other things. They are more likely to clinch and you sometimes spend more time pulling em apart. Some are really easy to ref others are more of a handful.. I guess like any other weight class but they can be hard work. Nathan Briggs is a delight to ref as is Mark DeMori - others can instill a fear of impending dread!

Quite often you really have to stamp down on things otherwise it can get quite out of control. Many got down on Brad Vocale for the way he handled Hoppa V Mirovic, I say that fight was always going to be a nightmare and if he had not asserted his authoritah it would have been a damned sight WORSE!

sweet, on another note phil i'v watched the ending of the fight i've noticed you had blood spots on your side cheek/face & nathan & kirby mixing blood in the ring, are their things you need do to b4 or after to make sure you or the fighters don't attract any type of disease, sickness etc?

Have you had many funny moments reffing Phil, eg Nathan Briggs about being funny.
Also are you allowed to interact with the fighters, or just tell them the rules?

Personally I dont get much joyment out of watching our Heavyweights..

The way Kirby was carrying on after the fight, Id probably watch
his next fight - just in hope that he gets knocked out, if thats even
possible, he has a hell of a chin, but Id like to see him get KOd.

Paul Briggs needs to get back in the ring.
