An elitism thread turns into a few old timers talking about an obscure thread an ex-member started. Is that what they call irony?
hey,thought i'd show up as i was mentioned earlier in the post i think i may have coined the 'elite' phrase that you are discussing, and this thread seems apt to tell my opinions i joined a couple of years ago and thought "this is great, like minded knowledgable boxing fans. why had i not joined earlier?" anyway, i started posting straight away. it was great learning and discussing all i knew ,and wanted to know about the greatest sport in the world. most of the guys with a lot of posts,who i had respect for because of their experience and analysis were great. whenever i needed to know anything i just posted up and got good responses. even got brave enough to start a few threads, as i reckon i know a little about the sport. anyway i sort of felt a part of what i considered a good movement. Then ,on the morning that Gatti died i saw the news pretty early and thought i'll put that on esb.someone might have got there first but what the heck,he's an icon. anyway,that was it i was murdered......i think the first post was something to thetune of "you're a f@*@%ng c@:t rhino. bit late we already know,get you're fuc@*ng facts right" then there followed about 5 or 6 "yeah,you tell him" support posts from other regular posters. could of just said "yeah,we know-check the earlier threads" now,,i'm not a sensitive bloke but the blatant abuse and the swearing is just a bit strong sometimes for someone who just wants to talk boxing. since then i just havn't bothered posting as much, and havn't enjoyed the site. everytime i have posted since , i have always found a thread similar to what i experienced. which is why the "elite club" comment seemed necessary,just to try and back up some of the abused newer posters no harm meant ,but i reckon esb may dishearten a few regular fans just from the abusive language and the backup it recieves.:good i just love boxing! where has GPater gone? Gregory is the chair of the board of directors...and he and I use to go back and forth on these close 2:1 betting line bouts until we'd hit the nail. Well just like anywhere else, you have your cliques. You have your people, who think their opinion is stronger than others....... I'm not one of those guys, ive been the underdog for along time... But I will say right now, that i don't group with anybody or any clique. And i must say "The British Forum" is not cliquey anymore, it has come along way....its a great place. And whatever people think about me and say, Primadonna Kool this...Primadonna Kool that... Forget about that.. "Primadonna Kool talks boxing" Anybody that comes here, weather their new or old. If these guys come to talk boxing, you got to respect that..........straight up men. I mean you had guys here like Jeff Thomas, who wasn't a bad guy..."I liked the guy"....he had allot to give this place. Most of the people respected him around here, but i did have a problem with the people who..... i think it depends on the noob if they make a real point fair enough if not stfu im not that regular of a poster here though more of a lounge poster
