I'm a fan of Tyson Fury but several red flags surrounding this fight. Firstly his fitness, he was in absolute peak condition against Klitschko and I cannot see him regaining that level of fitness given his time out of the ring and drink and drug issues. Secondly he doesn't have Peter Fury in his corner so he is ultimately his own boss now. Given his abundance of natural talent I certainly would not write him off and I will still be backing him (at the bookies). I would like to think he can outbox him for 12 but Wilders athleticism might get him in the later rounds.
It'll be just about 3yr to the date since Tyson was in the last real fight of his life by the time he gets back in the ring vs Wilder. I know he's had 2 bouts since his come back but they were nothing more than @zulander has suggested, 'an exhibition.' Neither of these bouts 'shook off the ring rust' in the real sense. Ring rust is a real thing and the two bouts Tyson has had, will do very little towards getting him ready for a real fight, which this fight vs Wilder, is. Without a doubt Tyson is a great fighter. The qualities he has/had, in boxing terms are of the highest order, considering he is a heavyweight. As @BoxingABC1 has pointed out. Fury at 75% of the Klit fight will be enough to beat Wilder. Does that Tyson fury exist anymore? That's the question that can't be answered until after the fight. It would of been easier to answer, had he continued out on the original path that had been mapped out for him. The original plan was 5 comeback fights progressing step by step in order of the calibre of opposition. The original plan has taken a detour already, why?, we don't know for sure. Is it as has been described by Frank, that the biggest draws in the division (by that he means Wilder) will be tied up in the near future and it could take a long time to sit out and wait to go the original path. Frank did seem to change his tune here as he was all for taking the no rush approach when he first announces he'd signed Tyson. Is it nearer to the truth to suggest that Tyson is done now. The main players around him know that and they can't even be sure that Tyson will still be around in 6 month as he might go off the rails again, then everything is scuppered. There's just too many unanswered questions for me atm. The safe money goes on wilder k.o But I would like to see Tyson win.
There’s only one version of Tyson Fury that beats Wilder. The Fury from that one night in Düsseldorf. The Fury before has a slight chance and the Fury after has next to none. That Klitschko performance was a one off performance of a life time, people need to realise that. It hadnt been done before and hasn’t been replicated since. I doubt it will. Wilder KO 5-7.
You know what I think and why. 1 quality fighter in 40 fights, 1...and even he’d have got a pensioners 10% discount at B&Q on a Wednesday. Keep that in mind if you’re going to pull up the various variables as to what will go against Fury. Wilder knocks tin cans over. If Ortiz wasn’t an old man who gassed he’d have knocked him out and this fight wouldn’t even be happening.
and imo, if Wilder was landing on Ortiz, the way Ortiz was landing on Wilder when Ortiz had Wilder all over the place, that would've definitely been stopped.
Is you're opinion of Tyson winning this fight based on Wilder never been in any real fight except maybe Ortiz. We havnt seen anything to suggest that Tyson is back to the Tyson fury we knew up to the klit fight. Do you think that the Tyson that turns up to fight Wilder, will be the Tyson fury of 3+ years ago?
Wilder KO if Fury opens up like in Cunningham fight but if he stinks it out like MOST of his fights then Wilder decision.
The likes of Szpilka and Molina were causing him nightmares, even Washington was giving him trouble. Ortiz absolutely leathered him in round 7 & 8 (and Wilder couldn’t even throw anything in first 4 rounds) and should have stopped him. The fight before he fought Stiverne for world title he was fighting one of Dave Allen’s old victims, Gavern. He was a running joke on here until he got announced as Fury’s next fight and suddenly he’s a major player. He has athleticism, heart and a huge right hand which is enough to knock cans over and tired old men. I don’t think Fury even has to be in the condition of 3 years ago to box this lads head off, mate.
Wilder hits harder than Ortiz, i’m not disputing that. Ortiz got greedy and went for the finish because Wilder was out on his feet. Fury doesn’t chase knockouts, he outboxes opponents, breaks their hearts and on occasion makes them quit.
You’re in Fury’s shoes...do you want to put the fella asleep or do you want to get the rounds in? His first comeback fight was a joke, he needed rounds.
