I love seeing Jimmy Wilde in any ATG top 10 list :good

Personally I can't do it myself, but he was a special talent that's for sure. By today's weight, he was boxing two divisions higher than what he should be (the equivalent of Martinez fighting the likes of Chad Dawson). Most of his opponents dwarfed him in there. But he was clever enough, and unorthodox enough, to work his way in and usually knock his opponent out.

I'm surprised so many lists don't have Robinson as number 1. I always considered myself the exception by not having him at the summit. **** it, I'll have him at number 1 now

    Martinez would beat Dawson :deal

And I'm not part of Wallet and Gaz's MDL.

Or should that be MNL (the N being for nuthugger) ;)

Judging him on the Villa fight, I imagine he was able to execute his hands down, awkward bombing much better at his best. Or rather, he was more durable, as the action is close until Villa goes on one and unleashes Hell on the veteran.

Sadly, only other footage I've seen of him if Tancy Lee tiring him out with excessive grappling.

I also think Martinez gets a tad overrated on here. Floyd would make him look silly

I've been watching Martinez for years. You know when you lot were saying Jamie Moore could beat him at 154lbs....:p;)

Yep, Martinez would get beat by the most overrated fighter of all time ;-)

I think ablilty wise he can get overrated. I'm just glad he's getting the money and dues that he deserves after the career he's had.

I never said that..... did I?

Might have to do a bit of backtracking here :patsch

There's plenty of fighters that are more overrated than Floyd.

Kirkland Laing for starters, Toney, Dawson, Dirrell.... any other unbeaten American being paid plenty to fight bums on HBO.

Floyd greater than Greb, sorry Flea

:deal He is an exciting fighter to watch, and has racked up the air miles looking for a payday so it's nice to see him being able to dictate contracts/purses etc.

Ooh, and Devon Alexander has to be up there with the most overrated ever. A win over a shot to **** Witter and a good punch against Urango, and suddenly he is the man to take over the p4p number 1 spot when Pac and Floyd retire. Beyond stupid.

    Robinson
    Greb
    Langford
    Charles
    Armstrong
    Duran
    Ali
    Fitzsimmons
    Pep
    Leonard

The top 3 are a lock for me on CV and largely interchangeable. I have SRR top just because I have seen a lot more of him than the other two. I am probably slightly biased having Charles over Armstrong, but Ezzard is my favourite fighter and his HW exploits has him top4 imo.

A lot of people rate Floyd as one of the greatest of all time. Therefore, he is the most overrated fighter of all time. ;-)

It depends how you view these things.

Floyd Mayweather is an underachiever in my book, he's got the lot - apart from the will to test himself against the best fighters. He's still a ****ing good fighter...... you can place him anywhere between 50 and 100 and be about right, subject to reasoning of course.

When people start with Dawson though I just cringe, he's average as hell.....

    Footwork - average
    Power - average
    Defence - average
    Handspeed - above average
    Ring IQ - below average

Hey, I've never been big on Dawson myself as you know.

Regularly got irate with good, rational posters, as they were literally making things up about him
