When I did Boxing, I paid about 30 odd quid for two fitted gumshields (I lost one of em') from the dentist. They are well worth the expense as they fit perfect in your mouth and the gumshields from the sports shops don't fit well IMO.
Not at all mate, I recommend strongly to any parent or anyone who is starting Boxing to go to the dentist and get one fitted. Infact I tried mine on a few week ago for the first time in about 6 years and it still fits perfectly and I had a couple of teeth out since then. EDIT: I read your question wrong, they make your breathing much better as your not having to bite down on them all the time and close your mouth.
That's shocking , could have given him a warning and told them to change it for the next fight at the very least.
What an absolute sickener for the kid. I mean, in cases like this, a little bit of common sense should often prevail (like being allowed to simply swap it), instead you have some self-riteous nobhead who feels he has to be the centre of attention by enforcing these rules which quite often could be merely overlooked. FFS, it was an orange gum shield?! Seriously!
What a complete sickner for the young lad on what was most likey one of the biggest days of his life.
seriously some people need more than just a slap, should have just let the lad change it ffs, commonsense ain't so common. all the HARD work the kid put in for it to just end like that hope the lad doesn't let this bother him to much and keeps putting the graft in. it's a good job we all love boxing because it's so full of **** its unreal.

Because they are made to measure by the dentist and that is the going rate. Fits like a glove, never falls out, dont even know it is in once it is in. Night and day compared to one you mould yourself.
First I heard of it was around 2010 I'd say. I am in Scotland mind, we are a bit behind the times :good I certainly fought in district championships in 2008/9 etc with a red and white one.
