Warrington for me without doubt. Two fantastic wins against quality opponents. Notable mention for Fury with a performance as good as any this year. Whyte is on a good run and doing all that's asked of him. However, the division just isn't that good. Browne was in horrific shape. Parker's frailties to bully tactics were shocking for a heavyweight and Chisora was never that good. Fury and Haye dealt with Derek a lot easier years ago. A great year for Whyte but not worthy of the award.
All the fighters you talk about, sure they have had a good year but they were the fovorite in all there fights. Josh took out 2 of the top five fw, in fights he was hardly given a chance by, by most people in boxing. He was the underdog both times.
Fury was in a much tougher fight away from home. Warrington deserves mention but only in a 'breakthrough' fighter of the year capacity. Let's see how he competes competes with Valdez, GRJ and LSC on the road before we start comparing his two domestic wins with Fury's elite heavyweight win on away soil.
Joint award is applicable here ; Josh and Fury, for obvious reasons. I expect both to continue their current form in 2019.
Warrington for me. Whyte did good and Tyson bounced back v Wilder, but why he bounced back goes against him.
I'd go with Warrington because of the level of opposition and the fact he was the underdog against Shelby and Frampton. Whyte should get a mention, two spectacular KO's against Browne and Chisora and he also beat Parker, 3 solid wins in 2018. Isaac Dogboe would have probably been right up there, he had a great year up until his last fight, 3 KO wins, picking up a world title and then he ran in to Navarrete. Dogboe is an example how you can go from an instant "talent" and "potential star" to being "exposed" and a "hype job" in 36 minutes.
So Fury doesn't make your list despite going to America and beating a man AJ's team are ducking. Great logic.
