Its a real 50/50 match up i wouldnt like to speculate on either player ... Got 24's on G Mac so will sit tight and hope he beats Yang ... and Watney at 28's - both should win but its been a cracking matchplay and i would give any player a chance at this stage... If they get through this round could be a betfair lay opportunity ..
SA have an awesome team at this world cup. Pretty much every department covered. Solid top order - Smith, Amla, Kallis, De Villiers, Duminy Spin - Tahir (will surprise everyone), Botha (hard to get away) Pace - Steyn (best in the world), Morkel (pace and bounce) I think they are the team to beat but who would bet on them...
What are they available at? I'm not convinced by their batting on these decks, but their attack looks good, I liked Australia because they've got three match winning bowlers, and bat all the way down. They absolutely rinsed NZ earlier. England have drifted quite a bit after their struggle with Holland. The pace bowling looks erratic and the batting is ****, we're still playing like a team in the late-80's trying to build momentum and keep wickets in hand. That basically means that even the weaker sides can go in with a strategy, they'll bat first and look to put the quicks under pressure early, knowing England aren't great at chasing, whereas a strong side will stick them in and back themselves to chase a score.
Not sure i agree with that ... our pace attack relies alot on swing (anderson best in the world) and we aint gonna get that assistance out there.. and we dont have a Tait who has express pace available. I think Yardy should come in for Bresnan and use Collingwood and Boppy alot more ... the meduim pacers will be more effective in the sub continent and difficult to get away . At the top of the order Strauss is well capable of a scoring rate of 120+ alongside KP. Morgans a huge loss but even though im not his biggest fan Bopara needs to step up to the plate. We were abysmal against the Dutch but i wouldnt right us off just yet . Sundays a tough game but if we can put in a performance against the favourites and build on it - who knows ! ... Saying all that I like the look of Sri Lanka ... strong in all depts and malinga la slinger to return alongside Mathews , Mendis and Murali is some attack and there top 4 are as good as any ...
Just a quick question regarding Pacquaio v Mosley - Sportingbet has an exact method of victory market 'Pacquiao by retirement' at 22/1. Does that just mean if Mosley quits on his stool? I ask because I think theres a good possibility of Naseem throwing in the towel late on or pulling him out of the fight at the end of the round (it nearly happened against Mayweather). Im assuming this wouldnt be classed as a 'retirement'?
Mossleys a very proud fighter - if he quit i would be very shocked... and what Naseem wants to do and what Mossley would tell him to do are two different things...
Strauss has looked good but Pietersen looked like he was batting with a snooker cue against Holland and hasn't looked the part in ODIs for years. Too many of our lads get in and get out, using up loads of balls and not scoring quickly enough. I'd bring Yardy in too, Bresnan will be fodder on these decks, and would use Collingwood more like you say. A mistake we make with Yardy is use him too high up the order, he ought to be in the Johnson role to hit boundaries rather than build a score. Sri Lanka have a good attack and will be helped by the conditions, if their other batsmen score enough they're a good bet for the semis.
I dont see Mosley retiring himself, but if Naseem stopped the fight would that still count as a Pacquiao victory via 'retirement'? If so at 22/1 its worth a few £.
I would be tempted to open the bowling with Yardy or Swann ... a gamble but with a harder cherry it may bite alot more ... get Broad bowling middle innings ... but then again we are English and we dont do things like that ! The Aussies do look strong tait , lee and Johnson know how to bowl in one dayers ... they look alot stronger than us at the moment but with one day cricket its all about momentum going into games...
If i was you I would clarify from your bookie what he means by a retirement ! .... they have ways of sqwerming out of bets ....
Yeah check just in case but it's probably the same as Skybet who've got Pacquiao by RTD at 20/1. Their rules are
