HBO by a mile, theyre brilliant at pulling random stats out of the hat and when you have people like Manny Steward ringside it helps.

It depends on the fight. The US commentary on the Contender UK v USA (Tessitore I think) just seemed a bit too glitzy for some well matched but fairly average fighters.

Getting up in the middle of the night to see the fights in the US you want US commentary I think. There is one of them who always says 'Wow' on HBO or Showtime who's very annoying.

Reg Gutteridge was great - I used to love some of his sayings like 'it's like a carnival in a car park' when the ring got full after a fight.

I like ******, Watt and Woodhall too with Woodhall being my favourite summarizer atm. Watt and Woodhall really know what they're talking about.

For comedy value you can't beat Duke McKenzie. ;)

Don't like Rawlings much and Jim Nealy is awful.

    Reg Gutteridge was a legend.

I used to like Tim Ryan and Gil Clancy when they were going strong - they covered many of the big 80's fights which is why they will always have a place in my heart. 1, 2, 3 awww.

Exactly. He even deflated the max kellerman hype train by stating can retire and Dawson was not all kellerman was making him out to be.
He also throws in there is no one quite like joe calzaghe in the fights :D

He says that 'cos Manny knows a ton about the sport, unlike idiots like Kellerman. His interview with JC after the RJJ fight was childish and disrespectful. It was like he was pissed at Joe for beating up his boy. Who the f*ck is chad dawson??? I know the man is world ranked but he hasn't really earned a fight with the likes of calzaghe has he?

I can't stand Jim Watt and his wingeing whineing boring monotone ramblings...a bit like Teddy Atlas but at least what he says makes sense most of the time.

Darke(should stick to football) is shite and Mcrory just agrees with him most of the time.

    Harry Carpenter was 'the man'.

There was a moment of ******ation from Kellerman during the second rnd when he said "Roy is making Joe look like a washed up Felix Trinidad" :patsch I can only imagine the look on Lampley an Manny's faces:nut as they both ignored that statement

Other than Darke, Watt and McCrory - I would choose the HBO team...................or Bob Sheridan!

I think it works both ways, Americans and Brits usually favour their own. For example, when a Brit is losing the fight, the Brit commenataro will constantly talk about ways that he could still win etc. if this or that happens, or he adopts this or that strategy. Same with Americans, during the last round of Jones/Calzaghe they were talking about how Jones still could knock Calzaghe out with one punch.... they have to think f their audience, and who they would favour and adapt their commentary to suit.

The Haye fight commentating was awful. They were so biased for Haye it was just unprofessional - sounded like they belonged in the audience next to Hayes family.
First decent power punch Haye landed in the first round we got something like "Haye lands a fantastic right...Monte Barrett has tasted the power of David Haye!"

A more accurate comment would have been: "Haye lands with a right but Barrett takes it"

David Croft used to be a 5live all rounder.

Now he seems to do motor-racing on the radio & darts on the bbc. Strange choice.

    Where's Rawling?
