Are you choosing to ignore the fact that Crolla was a replacement for ex world title holder Gavin Rees?

slap may be going the wrong way in putting his arguement forward but the point he is making are correct.

ask anyone outside of Britain this question and what will they say?

the standard of european title fights can be pretty poor from time to time but so can British title fights. theres been plenty of **** poor main events on sky involving the lonsdale belt in the last few years.

i guess the negative about the British title is that you can get a low standard of challanger but the posative is that you can sometimes find some quality fighters that come over to these shores. Jamoye a perfect example of that.

no. but a point that many of the pro lonsdale belt posters have said is that theres to many vacant title fights involving guys taking the bout at short notice.

my point is whats the difference between Watson vs Crolla and some of the poor fights listed last night.

yes but just as bad. We live in europe, theres not that many people that weigh under 8 stone.

the reason for so many poor records for fighters in those divisions is that they have taken so many fights as bantweight + just to earn a living.

I agree Rob. It's just difficult to agree with Slap when he's so arrogant. :barf

Yeah I was just pointing out how you seemed to be using unbalanced logic.

I know why there are a lot of bad records at these weights. Slap was using the Edwards fight as reasoning to knock the British while not mentioning the level of opposition for the European belt he was supporting.

First of all I have to point out that Bouziane is not a ex world champion, he drew in his attempt for a world title at 115.

Yes Crolla was a Super Featherweight but he was brought in on late notice and has proven before and after to be a very good fighter and Watson was in a FOTY Contender with Gavin Rees who was a former World Champion why not have him back in for the vacant title, I have seen worse for the European.

The European more often then not will have a better champion but you are far more likely to see a terrible opponents then you generally do with the British. Sure we have had some poor fighters go for British but not as consistently as we have seen it with the European, which is why it is getting degraded and for me is on the same level as the British.

It may be because the European champion is a higher level of fighter that they make the continental challenger look worse. Because British champions are generally prospects or certainly will be having those fights earlier in there careers they won't be able to dominate fighters as convincingly.

Maybe but for me that is positive spin. Guys like Messi, Bracco, Belge, Aramyan were awful and they where all from the last year, I cannot think of many worse British challengers then those listed above apart from maybe Martin Concepcion. I am pretty sure that the worse most one sided shows that we will see this year will involve a European Title.

Earlier in the thread, Beeston just quoted you.

That was so harsh Rob, you should apologise.
