Longest reigning British Champions Lee Haskins - 2 years 6 months - 3 defences Rob Nortan - 2 Years 4 months - 2 defences Jason Booth - 1 year 10 months - 4 defences Lenny Daws - 1 year 5 months - 2 defences Darren Barler - 1 year 2 months - 0 defences This averages at 1 defence every 10 months from the British champion.
What's so bad about the above. Barker has been injured, fought for the European last time and is with Hennessy. Daws is with Hennessy, Norton is in semi-retirement and Haskins was discarded by Sky and has been waiting for a shot at the European for a year.
It's more a problem with Boxing in this country, there is just not enough TV dates to go around so some of the less exciting champs like Lenny Daws, Rob Norton are less likely to get TV Dates as the exciting young up and comers.
The debate should have ended with this post. Whether you personally prefer the British belt is a matter of opinion, which belt is more prestigious is a matter of fact, and that's the EBU. It's ridiiculous to see people try make arguments that the British belt should be held in higher regard.
there all as bad as eachother.John Watton got a straight shot at the vacant belt after being knocked out. Euopean is a more prestigious title for the reason severall posters have made in this thread.
