Brook aint A level either, you call guy A level after one win over B level and all others C and D level opponents... A level are guys like Ward, Rigo, Floyd, prime Pac JMM MOrales etc neither Brook or Porter are anywhere near that level!!!
So... did Broner just expose the welterweight division as being pretty bad? I mean the top 2 guys outside of Pacquiao, Mayweather, and Bradley are Thurman and Brook. Porter is the best win of the two. Just let that sink in.
Ehh... thats just semantics. The way you use the "A level" its reserved for one, maybe two people in a weight class. I include a top swath of fighters whom I think would make good, legit fights with each other. Bradley, Maidana, Thurman, Porter, Brook, etc are all some shade of A level in my book. Which to me means that fights between them are legit contender/titlist level fights, and should naturally lead to a fight with the "top" 1 or 2 guys for the winners.
Like I said, we just using the term differently. Unless you are trying to say that those guys are not legit contender/titlist level we aren't really disagreeing. The way I use it, there is an "elite" level above "A-level" , thats where Floyd and Ward sit.
Well if you have level above A than we agree because these guys are not anywhere near Ward, Rigo FLoyd etc... Imagine Nathan Cleverly being A level when he had paper belt.
Broner was drinking and partying during the camp for this fight. He clearly is not and has not been completely dedicated to boxing for years now.. and doesn't seem to care about becoming more disciplined. And why should he if he's making enough money and is enjoying life? Will be hard to see him get fully disciplined all of a sudden. But the guy is not a past prime fighter or anything like that.. he's just not living the right lifestyle to be at his best. He was tired as hell in this fight.
Well.. yeah Cleverly. I'm not trying to say Porter is on the same level as Floyd But a guy on Porters level is still a legit guy, top 10 in a decent division, and a legit tough out for anyone. It just never made sense to me to call guys like that "B level" fighters. Just because they arent "the best", know what I mean? Makes it sound like fighting or beating them isnt worth anything, and I disagree with that. I give Brook good credit for beating Porter, for example.
No doubt Porter is hard to beat and i also gave Brook all the credit in the world, but win over Porter in 13 years career aint much...fallowed by JoJo and Gavin lol
It'd be interesting to see whether Broner could improve by dropping the C-grade Mayweather impersonation and going back to basics. Get in shape, use the jab more, move, etc. He's got some skills and seems to be reasonably gifted athletically. Can't see him doing it though, tbh.
Broner should go back down to 140. But here is the deal... Broner really ain't that good of a fighter. I'm from Chicago and Broner reminds me of Jay Cutler. The Bear's quarterback. He has all the talent to be great... But he sucks.
Brook's best win is that B-level fighter atsch Porter is B level. Broner was never that good. AB needs to be canned. He gets way too much spotlight.
