:shock::nut Broner is a 21 year old prospect. Record is 19-0 (16 KO's) and is pretty untested but Golden Boy are putting him in against Ponce on the Hatton-Alvarez card. Who thinks this will backfire like Ortiz-Maidana or Pirog-Jacobs? ---- According to the Telegraph Fury's going to take on Francois Botha on Mick's Wembley card! Botha lost to Holyfield last time out. --- What with Martinez being stripped, Lemieux has a better chance of picking up a title this year. He's fighting Rubio in a final eliminator on April 8th. Zbik-Chavez is in May and the winner of Rubio-Lemieux will be the mando.
That's a huge shock. I mean, De Leon is one of the best at the weight, he's not just some obscure guy like a Maidana or Pirog, you can clearly see the risk he presents. Actually, guy's he's recently beaten like Escalante and Lock, would probably be best for Broner.
They were talking about Litzau first but Ponce is even a bigger risk. The fella's actually improved his boxing ability since getting bombed out by JuanMa and he can PUNCH. Golden Boy have ****ed up their matchmaking before...
Broner has slipped under my radar a bit to be honest, i need to do some scouting up on the kid. Ponce's improved alot the last few years, he cuts the ring off well now and he can still bang, they must be extremely confident in Broner sticking him in with Ponce at this stage. Can't complain though, lets find out what he's got.
Strange time to take the fight. Ponce has looked better than ever of late. I've not seen enough of Broner or I think so anyway :think Tough task for any fighter never mind a young prospect.
Ponce is a clueless slugger end of. So what he landed 1st against Escalante. Go back and watch the Lock fight. Going up another division, YOU CALL ITS OVER BABY
He's a bit more than a clueless slugger. He's no master technician but he has developed boxing ability. I'll have to check out more footage of Broner, I think I saw him on an undercard once and he looked good but that was some time ago.
Lemiuex will tale Rubio out in the first. I hope he still meets up with Martinez at some point, but if Chavez beats Zbik I'd bank on Lemiuex taking him out quickly as well. Ain't seen Zbik yet but understand he's fairly uninspiring? Fury will beat Botha on points IMO. TYSON DURAN thinks Broner is good, but Ponce has looked fairly decent as of late, I hope he wins this then gets starched by Gamboa next.
Yeah he is very beatable. Seen him outboxed and out gunned so he definitely has a lot of holes in his game. Not sure about the Cab fight not seen that one. Just think its a bit of a tough sink or swim fight for Broner.
the winner of zbik chavez will fight martinez id say if zbik beats chavez then id say hbo will approve him because he will have a win on us tv lemeiux rubio winner will have to wait till next year as chavez is mando this year i think ...could be worng though
The WBC won't do Martinez any favours where Chavez is concerned. They'll let Arum shove him in with any bums that he wants..... Martinez took the first Williams fight at 160 whilst still their 154lb champ, and they didn't get a piece of the action. Wouldn't surprise me to see him out in the cold for a prolonged period actually. Lemieux vs Rubio will be a massacre, if this lasts two rounds I'd be very surprised.
Broner-Ponce De Leon seems like a crazy one alright, GBP seem to have it all wrong when it comes to building up their fighters. They keep em fighting cans for ages, and then chuck them in against a really tough opponent out of nowhere.
