These guys didn't even have a plan b. Even sadder was how no one, even his father, didn't accompany Broner back to the dressing rooms. Broner got rained on by the fans by himself.
Holy **** I am genuinely dying ob laughter reading this after several cold bears. I have beeb drinkin sinse yesterday. Man good find. Man wjats up. Omg:rofl
I believe there was a round they did say he needed a knockout (could have been before the 12th) and I think Broner was in denial of that, but not sure tbh
:roflatsch Listen if you get hit by wide shot that Maidana throws you have no business using Philly shell, those punches he got hit with GOOD defensive fighter would see from a mile away, he should stop the Floyd act and adopt style that works for him. keep away from Philly shell he aint defensive wizard like FLoyd, Toney, BHOP...
Never any excuse for this. The last thing you need is for your eyes and ears to criticize you unless it is constructive criticism. Corners are there to help the fighter negotiate difficulties in the fight, point out opportunities, not create doubt. Broner, shockingly, was the mature voice in his corner.
Yep - I think it was around the 9th. Broner shook his head dismissively and said something like "I got this".
I believe his corner did tell him he needed a knockout after the 11th round. Stafford told Broner "we need a knockout",Broner responded "you want me to dog him", Stafford said "No, you need a knockout". That was some funny ****.
I remember Stafford at one point was saying something and then broke off and said to Broner "You're not listenin to me!!" Which is true, Broner wants to be like Floyd so much that he wants to appear in control all of the time, even when he's clearly not.
Broner Definately has lapses which prove costly. But overall I think broner uses the shell effectively, not saying its perfect. Plus maidana was doing a good job disguising those hooks.
thats not the problem imo. in the first few seconds, you should allow your fighter to collect himself, get a breather, etc. so, i think the corner is in line with this. however, the follow up instructions is the missing part, like if the game plan is working, are they going to stick with it, does it need adjustment. what's broner doing wrong, and how to fix it. the camera moved to the maidana corner, so we might not hear the broner's corner in its entirety. im guessin there isnt a whole lot good advice in there. notice, in the later round, you can hear the corner, "get your hands up man". well, broner does philly shell. if itsnt working, the corner could specifically tell him to switch to high guard instead of sounding clueless.
