I assumed Brook would make an account of himself early in the fight. GGG almost always starts fight slow and warms up later on.
He didn't have to figure Brook out. It was as if he knew that Brook couldn't hurt him and it was an all out assault from the opening bell. Lol
Brook fought a good fight. He was undersized though. I don't buy that sh!t about him being a natural MW and all that. The man has no business anywhere except 147. But, he boxed well. At times GGG looked stuck and befuddled...even hurt once or twice. Eventually though, weight classes do matter. GGG just mowed him down and hit him with big shots. No way Brook was going to weather that. His defense would need to be Mayweather-esque to survive 12 rds. And even then...no guarantees. The rounds through 4 were fairly competitive. But, only Rd 2 was a clear Brook Rd, IMO.
Ggg fan boys believe ggg won every round and never felt brooks power. Everyone without a dog in the fight clearly saw ggg getting being outboxed. Props to him for doing what he's supposed to do and disposing of the 147 pounder but he was clearly exposed. Brook was able to back him up several times and it truely looked like an even fight until the injury forced the stoppage. He has zero head movement and is a sucker for the uppercut. He's a good fighter but now the proposition of him beating ward is completely out the question. He doesn't have the tools to fight a bigger man that can move and out think him
3G knew Brook couldn't really hurt him! He probably trained for movement and really didn't give much thought about D. The outcome was what I expected...G winner by stoppage before the half way mark of the fight! You surprised?
So when he backed up with his gloves up near his face that was him walking through Brooks punches, get out of here. It happened vs Stevens as well, maybe Brook landed a good shot and he needed to step back, sometimes he needs a breather, or maybe he was observing or something else. But please don't act like that whole fight he was walking through Brook's punches with his hands down or ready to throw punches. He was on the defensive for what ever reason. But you can't be on the back foot with your gloves up to protect your face whilst walking forward through punches to land your own at the same time.
But for an unfortunate injury Kell brook would have won easily imho. 147 and 154 have become wastelands to him now. Nobody will want those chocolate brownies.
I had Kell winning 2 and 4 (4 is debatable and could go to Golovkin), no way he won 1 or 3 and he was losing 5 before the corner stoppage.
The injury occured by being hit by Golovkin, in the first round. That's like saying he would've won the fight if he hadn't died from brain trauma.
He wasn't ahead on every card. Eddie Hearn just released the scorecards from the judges and two judges had it even 38-38 and one judge had brook winning. I had it 2 rounds a piece
