so he was trying to fight a retired fighter, it makes great sense lmao
Doesn't matter? Again it makes alot of sense lol
No indication? Actually the only indications were that foreman would win...
Prime tonny tucker not only was much better ,bigger faster and stronger than old holmes but he would be a hell of fight for a prime Holmes. Foreman won the title against michael moorer who did beat Holyfield, the same holyfield that did beat the shi7 of holmes. Holmes was a complete nobody in the 90s.
jimmy young was absolutely nothing like holmes, young was much more elusive and harder to hit clean, he did not trade blows with punchers stupidly like holmes did and he was less aggressive.
Holmes looked crap against holyfield he barely fought to last the distance, foreman fought to win and he looked much better, he did hurt evander.

Yep. There are some true desperation in the attempts to find excuses for the Douglas loss. Probably more so than for any other loss.

That Tyson excluding the loss to Douglas was KO1, KO1, KO1, KO7 and W12 by shutout between Bruno and prison is conveniently omitted. If those results are the sign of terminal decline, I'd like to have me some of that.

    Oh for crying out loud..

Bruno got knocked out by Tyson twice. Tyson lost both times within a year of beating Bruno, 6 years apart.

Tyson could get pistol whipped by Teddy Atlas, do a line of coke with Donald Trump, bang three asian hookers in the limo on the way to the fight, get his drink drugged by Don King, and stumble into the ring with a joint in his mouth, and still knock out a prime and ready Bruno.

Douglas was a 6'4-6'5 230ish pound SHW who was very mobile had a good jab and right hand and threw good combinations. I'd pick Douglas, at least on that night, to beat Lyle a lot more easily than Foreman did

douglas was not 6'4 nor 6'5.
    Douglas was 6'3 1/2.
Douglas not just would not beat lyle "more easily" than foreman did but he would not beat lyle at all.
    How old are you?

Tucker has no relevance of Foreman avoiding both guys BC they were long technical boxers . which is why despite Holmes attempts to lure Foreman in a fight he chose not to.

Michael Moorer also has no relevance to Holmes as doesn't Morrison schooling Foreman either.

The end of the day Foreman like guys he could easily punch out that's why he thought he would beat 207 pound Holyfield and has minimum knockouts with guys over 225, struggling with guys like Stewart doesn't bring much confidence he defeats Tyson in the 90's either.

Douglas would give Lyle a boxing lesson.

Yes Lyle was really tiny, he'd be dwarfed by Douglas.

I'd pick Lyle to knock Douglas out.

The reason Tyson did not look so good against Bruno IS BECAUSE BRUNO WAS A LIVE OPPONENT.

Nobody looks sh!t hot when the other guy fights back. When there is nothing coming back or the the fight ends before the other guy even gets into it you get a false reading.

We will never know what Tyson might have looked like If Micheal Spinks turned up. Does anyone believe James Quick Tillis was really a better fighter than Spinks? Can it be that Tillis turned up with the attitude Spinks should have had? And I don’t want to hear how inexperienced Tyson was for Tillis! Nobody says he was too inexperienced for Jesse Ferguson or Marvis Frazier either side of that fight.

Everyone was so hungry for an exciting champion that everyone is unreasonable with Tyson. The expectation was far too high. He was just a guy. He was entertaining, he was different, a kid with a USP. But it’s so unfair to blame any performance with any kind of resistance from his opponent as some kind a sign that he was declining or the guy could have won.

Tyson was genuinely the best in the world at the time he beat Frank. And Frank took an absolute walloping in that fight. All the way through it. If Frank won three seconds of the action we did well and it was a sign Tyson was in decline GTFO!

Tubbs and Spinks folded up like deck chairs. they just did not want to be there. Larry was dug up from his two year fishing and beer tasting retirement after losing his last two fights. No wonder these were great wins! Thomas? People only remember the finishing highlight reel. Not the lousy bit between that start and the end. Thomas brought only a stout heart and his name. No real current credentials.

Actually at 6'3 220 he would be smaller than Douglas

Watch Foreman/ Qawi to see how old Foreman does vs 90s Tyson. It doesn't look promising. For Foreman that is.

    I wouldn't pick a 70s Foreman to beat an 86-91 Tyson.

With regards to Spinks, to be honest he may have appeared nervous at the staredown but he did throw a few jabs and punches at Tyson but first of all he wasn't a very hard puncher so his weak punches were never going to scare Tyson, secondly it was too bad that he got hit flush by Tyson on the jaw. Regardless of whether you come to fight or not, very hard to survive against that.
