The team at BT sport have worked wonders building a sports channel from scratch. They've brought in very talented staff and they've shown flair in the way they've presented and promoted their content. Their premier league tonight program is excellent as is their CL coverage. I like that they don't try and extra fees for HD coverage too. For boxing they produce the no filter doco's which are usually good viewing and their promos are usually creative and fun. Although I'm not that keen on their latest Frampton Warrington effort.
I could only find an article from 2010 but back then it had an average daily reach of 2.1 million viewers.
Yes and the football coverage of Jock football was very good but they lost out to Sky in a peanuts auction - The CEO of BT has publicly stated that the days of spending huge on sports coverage is over. BT and Sky should not be losing Italian and Spanish football to a tinpot outfit but it would appear to have done the trick - eleven sports UK are bust. There is room for 2 sports broadcasters maximum in the UK for 99.99% of the population so hopefully BT keep going.
It's not so much anti-BT as pointing out the pretty big differences between the two. Again, it's about a platform for the average sports fan. Look at what they've lost. WTA tennis and Australian (i.e. middle of the night) cricket. These are sports appealing to a tiny minority. As I said, their football coverage is ridiculous compared to BT and that's front and centre what matters. Add in the rest and unfortunately from a consumers point of view there's little realistic competition.
You'll soon be able to buy BT sport channels through Sky and buy all the Sky Sports channels through BT. It will be interesting to see how that changes things. Should be better for anyone like me who has both purely because of the sports.
Gotta give BT credit for their ppvs as there are no commercial breaks during fights so you can listen to the corners and see highlights of rounds..............SKY are awful for ads between rounds at a ppv event.
It's so bad. Completely breaks any immersion you might have in the fight. Surely Sky / Hearn can spare the few quid they are making from those ads to give a much better boxing experience to the viewer.
