Buddy ......... in a real close one. He had greater variety. Better movement. Marlon was stronger, they both beat Simon Brown ( i think ) , very tough to call.
Real tough one...without thinking about or analyzing the fight whatsoever my gut says McGirt by a whisker aswell. Might watch a couple of fights and have a think about it some more.
I think I have said McGirt in this one in the past, but now I don't know. I do think Marlon with his strength and in fighting ability could really trouble McGirt, but if McGirt is able to keep some distance with movement the fight becomes infinitely better for him. His speedier hands and combo throwing ability (when he still had a left hook) would allow him to pile up a lot of points. I'm thinking Starling will probably edge him as of now, but ask me tomorrow and I might think differently. Tough one to call....
Could go either way, but for the moment, I think I'll go with Marlon. For whatever its worth, he was a solid natural welterweight, whereas James fought a fair number of fights at super lightweight, and he arguably had a bit more strength than Mcgirt. Both men were technical geniuses with all the right tools to beat the other and then some... If I had my choice, I'd take Starling by a very close ( and probably controversial ), decision.
