Ever had a cut over your eye in a prize fight ?You say he bitched out yet he's 48 and no one wants him to fight but you say he bitched out :think:think
Are you ****ing kidding get real holyfield is done he just fought a bum last night so that makes him a bigger bum now.:hi:
Very similar to the Rahman-Toney II controversy, if you remember. Blame the referee and the commission for allowing this to happen. They could have called a doctor into the corner before the stoppage. The ref could've seen how the situation was being manipulated and then done something about it. Or, the commission, once things settled a bit, could have rendered a verdict that was fair to Williams. Holyfield should've come out and fought; there was no blood in the eye, just an old guy who suddenly was in over his head.
I did not see the fight like I stated earlier, but Evander should not be fighting anymore. The Toney fight was a long time ago and he was beaten up badly then and on the decline. And that was a long time ago. Evander will not retire unless the boxing commission says no more. One guy who retired whom I thought would never retire if you asked me 4 years before he retired in 1987 was Marvin Hagler. He hung it up and stayed with it. I give him credit.
While I agree Holy bitched out (very harsh way of saying it), I think if he now retires, that's cool with me. If he suddenly realised "what the **** am I doing", and used it to bail out, then OK. He's nearly ****ing 50, reality slapped him in the face at a VERY bad time, I'll give him a pass on that. If he keeps fighting though, then that's different.
I think this is pretty much what happened. It was a tactical decision to stop the fight then. He was getting hit and didn't look too sturdy to me. Perhaps he would have gotten his legs under him over time. The cut looked pretty bad, but it wasn't bleeding. I think a couple of more shots and he would have sprung a leak. It was threatening to burst open. At any rate, I felt cheated. I wanted to see what the old man could do.
It was just very depressing. Much like Tyson-McBride. I would too, but his comments after the fight are quite dispiriting on that level as he seems to just have regarded it as a bad day at the office and the fight goes on.
Holyfield legs were going and had the 4th round took place it would have been to lat to quit without having a loss. Boxing Politics at its best. And the sad thing is holyfield cried robbery when he lost to valuev. Hypocrytical old *******, at least he aint gone senile and claiming the black race is athleticly superior in every way........
