You wouldn't last 10 seconds with either one. There was alot of skill coming from both especially Salido with his combination punching and Lopez with the sneaky shot that floored Salido. YDKSAB stick with adult swim.

yeah i knew would be in the minority on this, but i am just being honest. i just wasn't into the fight all like that.
Don't get me wrong i like when fights get heated like Ortiz v Berto 1. both those guys have flaws and mental lapses but their fight just felt like a full course meal.
Lopez Saildo just didn't feel like a complete fight to me. i mean you had heart on the menu, you had chin on the menu but their was no skill, no defense and Lopez having the greatest potential to do some something special didn't play his part, and did his pathetic version of the philly shell.
It was novel for the moment but i am not moved by this fight like say Ortiz vs Berto or Khan vs Maidana.

Ortiz-Berto was good for 6 rounds, then became a hugfest for the rest of the fight...Khan-Maidana while beng very entertaining still doesn't hold a candle to this fight.

You didn't think this fight was as good like the 2 you mentioned? Fine, your opinion, but to refer to both Salido and Lopez as bums after their performance last night? Get the **** outta here with that stupid ****, you ******.

While I do a agree the fighters looked a little sloppy, there is a reason this happened. Juanma I think is stuck in between weights and no longer has the speed he once had.

Salido's style looks sloppy but he has great timing and knows how to mix punches and when to put his weight behind punches. Also Salido fought with an incredibly high work rate because he had to do so, he wasn't going to win a decision in PR and Juanma, despite having an open defense, fought more cautiously than in the 1st fight and didn't start trading punches until around the 8th round.

Salido usually shows better defense but he didn't do it in this fight because Juanma was more cautious and he knew he had to get a KO.The result was a fight in which Juanma was still taking a beating, but he wasn't walking in to the punches like the 1st fight(until the late rounds).

In conclusion Juanma delayed the beating he was taking by being cautious, and Salido neglected his defense because he needed to KO Juanma. This caused the fight to look sloppy but by no means are they both bums. Salido is the best in his division(now that Gamboa moved up) having defeated Juanma twice and giving Gamboa a tough battle.

I would say Salido is a A- fighter and Juanma a B-(might be C+ if he doesn't correct his defense because now everyone knows the blueprint to beat him.)

Lopez in my mind, although he had some freakish talents, never really established himself as a great star, just great hype, and Salido is a good B level fighter. It was a great fight, both guys gave it their all, but I completely understand your point.

You can watch Lopez Penalosa or Lopez Mtagwa or Lopez Salido 1, this was a guy that came on as the next big thing and smashed Ponce De Leon in one round, but beating R Marquez at 26 at that point in his career, was still a great victory but Lopez hadn't, in my mind, taken out a legit high level prime fighter , and the Mtagwa fight, which I thought could have gone the other way, showed an exciting guy to watch with a lot of vulnerabilities.

So yes, its fair to say we were watching two guys and that neither one was a superstar, or had established legit wins over the best around them, but it was a damn great fight and I would sure as hell love to watch either of them again.

I think everyone saw Lopez was cautious of Salido early and was trying to box him off the back foot for the first half of the fight... But at some point Lopez stopped fighting "scared" and switched up tactics....meaning he began "fighting". He stopped worrying about getting KO'd and showed a warrior's mentality....win, lose or draw.. he ended up losing but proved his champions' heart.

If you didn't like the fight then we may need to check you pulse. It had a little of everything and a whole lot of drama. It was a classic. I don't think Lopez will be the same but I could be wrong.... He could have taken too much damage or being forced to fight the fight of his life could be what propels him to that next level...we will have to wait and see.

Round 9 was incredible. Just that one rounds makes it an exciting fight, not to mention the others and the brutal KO.

Also, Shadows of the Empire book sucked, one of the few EU SW that ive read and it was poor.

It's rare to see a fight with rounds that contain blistering two way action. It's even more rate that action in a round reaches a level where it can be considered a candidiate for ROTY.

This fight gave us three consecutive ROTY candidates, followed by a conclusive ending. The fighter who won had to climb off the canvas to make this happen- which makes this fight that much better.

Seriously...People complain way too much around here sometimes.

I can agree with the facts you laid down. but my opinions for this are different. i just think that juanma has the potential to be a better fighter than Salido.
I don't see Salido doing any thing of note after this fight. i think most people will just forget about him. Don't get me wrong i am not taking anything away from Salido on a personal level from his victory, he had the deck was stacked against him twice (well every thing but the fighter.) and he came out and gave it his all. But as fan (yes i really do love boxing despite me not being moved from this fight or the fighters.)
I just didn't have that omg moment in this fight. I mean i liked Salido's head movement making Lopez look like a fool missing all those punches but this is only in relation to Lopez complete lack of head movement for the cautious fighter.

This just felt to rocky-ish for me. To many shots being blocked with the face and not enough thought and skill it just felt like watching one of those bum fight dvds.
