Bit puzzled by Bunce's comment about Gamboa growing into a big WW. I thought he was a FW in his mid 20's.
Obviously the lower the weight the better for Hatton but I think Hattons time for having a decent chance against Cotto has passed. Given the styles (Cotto likes to fight at his own pace) I'd have fancied Hatton 2004-2006 at 140 when Cotto still hadn't peaked, but Ricky is past his prime now while Cotto his probably at his. I don't think Cotto coming down 4 or 5 pounds for the fight would be enough to swing the fight in Hattons favour. I agree with you on Gamboa, I though that was strange comment at the time as well. Not as funny as the "female women" one to the lady boxers though!!!:good
I missed the show but will watch the replay at 11pm, mostly for the reason people are giving out about(women's boxing) as I'm interested in Taylor's career. Shame there isn't Women's amateur boxing in the Olympics.........that was Ireland's only real chance for a Gold(probably at any sport).
Gamboa was a light-flyweight in Athens and officially listed as being 4.11! My point was that if he destroys people and in 2009/2010 he is considered unbeatable at about light-welter then a fight could be made with Floyd. Floyd's ego and not his pocket will lead him back to the ring. Adios.
I missed the live show..but watched the repeat. I think people are sleeping on Sugar Shane Mosley. He had Cotto on the back foot in the latter rounds, and he has fought and held his own with bigger badder, technically more skillfull fighters ...more supream fighters...than Antonio Margorito. One man.. "Ronald Winky Wright" 2 fights..Sugar Shane Mosley. Sugar Shane Mosley can stand up to the bully Antonio Margo.."Thats all he is"...Because he cannot box, he does not understand the sweet science.
Although we all know money talks with Mayweather I tend to agree with you. Floyd would not be able to sit contently and watch another fighter being hailed as p4p#1, especially if the fans and pundits start saying he is better than Floyd was. ps. I sent another email but time was up, I was asking if you think Floyd might return to face pacman in a huge p4p#1 decider, when is the last time that a fight with those stakes was made, if ever #1 v #2 or vice versa as almost everyone has one of these guys in the top spot. If Pac is prepared to fight at 147 for Oscar then why not Floyd. personally I could only see one winner to be fair and that would be Mayweather but it would be a huge event with just as much $$$$ as either of them would make against Oscar (probably more) and it would settle an arguement which has been ongoing within forums for a few years now....who really is the best of the best?
Pac hasn't proved himself at 135 or 140 yet, I think fights against DLH or Mayweather are hard sells until he does.
I've just noticed a real "fnar, fnar" moment on the replay. A comment on women having to share changing rooms with the male boxers "It was lot harder for the younger girls".....geddit??? Sorry..atsch
That was a weak show compared with the others. I was extremely bored when they were talking about women's boxing. Maybe they should put men's netball in the Olympics too?!
# 46. Did you watch Katie Taylor or Nicola Adams moving? Watch it again. They are very, very good. This is not women's boxing from a decade ago with porn stars and famous daughters. Taylor has a six figure offer on the table from one prominent American promoter. She can fight. Adios.
