I don’t like the female boxing. It just seems kind of perverted and a the thought of fight of two women in a fight like Margarito Cotto at the weekend repulses me. Stick with the real stuff Buncey. I don’t expect womens football on Match of the Day and I don’t expect Women 'boxers' on Bunces Hour.
I think a lot of people that are objecting to Women's boxing have that idea of what used to go on, as Bunce described 'women's boxing from a decade ago with porn stars and famous daughters' I've seen Taylor box and it is not just to a standard where you think 'hmm, not bad for a girl' but it's entertaining from a purely love of watching boxing point of view, because the technique is so good and the speed and reflexes are there too. I know a guy from Bray(Taylor's home town) who has boxed out of the gym there and he says that her sparring normally consists of her whooping male boxers in the gym. Admittedly some of Taylor's fights can be a little one sided, but unlike a decade ago it's not a case of one girl in the ring who really shouldn't be there and another with a tiny amount of skill and possibly a famous name. It's one gril who is a good boxer against another who is an exceptional one. The same way Raushee Warren has a lot of one sided bouts outside one or two in the World Championships and Olympics.
Didn't want to bring it up at the time as I wasn't totally sure but it's actually the third European Union Championships that are on now in Liverpool. Taylor lost to eventual winner Gulsum Tatar in the quarter-finals in 2006. Taylor didn't enter in 2007 where Tater again won the 60KG title. Ireland won one bronze in 2006(Alanna Murphy), and England won a Silver(Amanda Coulson) In 2007 England won two Silver(Natasha Jonas and Coulson again) and a Bronze(Anastasia Cousins) Now of course I didn't know that off I'm only after looking it up but it shows that British and Irish amateur women are finding it much harder to win medals at the EU Championships which can be a bit of a gimme to the top level British and Irish boxers. It seems a more competitive tournament. Anyway Irish Light-Flyweight Debbie Rogers is in the Light-Flyweight semi-final, Katie Taylor is in the semi-final at Lightweight and Kelly Harrington was in the quarter final of the Light-Welterweights this evening(no idea of the result). Not a clue how the British fighters are doing at the moment but it'll be interesting to see the final results. Of course that's as one of the 1% of people who actually seem to care about this.
i bet theres some big bull dykes in the heavyweight division!some real jeff capes looking mother****ers.
