I don't know the ins and outs of the negotiations but given that Setanta, ITV and Sky all passed on the fight I think its fair to say that Hennessy priced himself out of the deal rather than Setanta (or ITV. Sky) being unwilling to pay a reasonable amount for the fight.
Fair enough. But it's a choice nobody forces you to pay them. Setanta are very up front about what theyoffer. Yes at times they have got fights at the last minute, but it's not as if they sell their service on that. It's a nice bonus. Now **** off kid.

I accept that when you have different channels in competition with each other and with tight budgets then theres going to be a bit of mixing up of who shows what, which is why I subscribe to both Sky and Setanta I just find it annoying that a journalist is criticizing fans for a reluctance to pay for something that his host channel wouldn't.

For ****s sake. Don't think Steve would love this fight to on setanta? As well as pleasing him as a boxing fan it'd give him a nights work. Do you know how this business works? Have ever been involved in promotion?
I'm sure he tried to influence the suits to get it and it isn't his fault they didn't, whether it was unreasonable demands from Froch's camp or tight budgets. I do aknowledge (and am grateful for) the things Bunce has done to help revive boxing on TV. No I haven't been involved in TV show promotion so I won't pretend I know the inside tack but the fact is than from a fans perspective there's no TV broadcast on the usual channels (which apart from ITV are all subcribed) so I still think it was a clumsy comment given the circumstances. Ok, my first post was a bit of a knee jerk and I should have left out the insult (which I apologize for if Buncey is reading this thread) but I still stand by my opinion on the comments.
Yeah maybe he feels bad for Froch that he did not get the fight on to setanta and doesn't want him to end up with too much less than what he would have got if the fight were on setanta.
Buncey does a great job. I remember sky used to have ringside programme every week in the boxing season. That disappered after a while. Bunceys show is great and summat to look forward to every week. Always brings a smile to the face. We should be pleased with setants coverage as has been pretty good to date and with some decent fights coming up. Its not their fault that sky the scumbags have decided not to show many world class fights from USA and downgraded their service to boxing. If they forked out less $$ on premiership rights on football then we may have ended up with some great fights on sky. Anyway, anyone know if canda tv can be pciked up in eruope? would be good to know.
Gutted I cant see the Froch-Taylor fight on a proper telly but im not paying a Tenner for a stream on my computer. Got both legal and Illegal streams before, and 2 of the 4 legal streams bought ****in crashed, and i didnt get a penny back. Found countless illegal streams and if that goes then your in the same boat as with a legal one, but with a tenner in your pocket. Hows that a choice. Itv did a similar deal with Calzaghe-Lacy, so ive got to be honest and im blaming Carl or Mick for the greed, so this money out of his mouth **** isnt working with me. They have to make the money up from somewhere to get Taylor and Di Bella to play ball, and thereafter get themselves paid, and well paid, for taking the risk, he is the Champ. So i understand completeley. Would have loved to see him put one over on Taylor and get some recognition, especially here, where he is a sidenote to Khan and Hatton, but it's just not worth the risk. Gutted. But thats the price to pay for taking the American Dream and the so called(and short lived) credit you get for trying to get the biggest American fight available straight away. You arent financially viable, you give away the high ground, and your left chasing telephone numbers to make the fight worth it. And it ends up like this. If Carl succeeds, no-one will know or care. Its not like people have become disilusioned with paying for fights because there have been so many utter garbage PPVs going on for years and years is it? Its much like the video game industry complaining that people are pirating their games when the quality, length and novelty of games is decreasing and the prices are going up. Produce a better product and then people will be more inclined to pay for it, no?
