Look at where Ricky was when Billy started training him, he's 10 world title fights down the line and a 2 weight world champion......one of the most successful british boxers ever. The last card was so ****. I suppose Brophy was supposed to be fighting for a title and Simmons got injured but it was so pish so many mis-matches. Cardle-Appleby was a good wee fight though. I was hoping now Ricky has lost his title, Eddie would put more into the undercard.

I can see why he's taking it, as it will get him a good ranking with the WBC if he wins. But it definitely wouldn't do more numbers than Murray or Crolla surely. Both of them would take a good following up to Glasgow.

I don't see a big deal in Alex's comments nothing against Billy either but someone else said it sometimes in recent fights advice in the corner wasn't the best however I applaud Billy for getting Ricky through the Beltran fight when he looked like he wanted to quit between 8-12. I think a new trainer will be a good approach and fighting in a WBC eliminator for me is a better fight than Crolla-Murray who for me are still a level below Ricky.
No one said bad advice but there was times in previous where it felt like he wasn't telling Ricky what to do and just saying "come on Ricky 4 rounds left to stay a world champion" I get it that motivation is part of the sport and as I say it's not a knock on Billy I enjoy my conversations with him on here but I think Ricky just needed to freshen things up.
Burns was getting frustrated in the corner of the Crawford fight because he couldn't do the things Billy Nelson was asking him to do, the main reason for this was Crawform wasn't letting him. Burns needs to be honest with himself and admit he was out classed by Crawford, he just couldn't deliver what was needed to beat Crawford. I've always thought one of Billy Nelson's strengths was reading a fight and giving good calm corner advice. I don't think Morrison's comments tally with reality, it smacks of a man trying to find an excuse when there isn't one there. The easiest thing in the world is to make up excuses, paper never refused ink. Morrison isn't a man of words so maybe he didn't mean to be so blunt. Then again maybe Morrison is trying to save his own skin by scape goating Nelson, Eddie Hearn is ruthless in his pursuit of a fighter and as treacherous in this regard as any British promoter I have ever seen. Burns, Hearn and Morrison are disappointed with the Crawford loss and that's fair enough but let's make one thing clear..........if Ricky Burns had Eddie Futch, Manny Stewart and Ray Arcel in his corner that night he was still going to lose to Terrance Crawford.
Agree with you about the Crawford fight he just showed to be a level above Ricky that night but there's no shame in that he went in tried to give it a go and lost by 4 rounds.
more generous judging the one that gave it by 8 was generous as I do not know 1 person personally who gave Ricky more than 1 round it that fight. Most embarrassing performance I have see, Crawford was not all that, Ricky showed no heart and never at any stage tried to put it on guy, or hurt him once in 12 rounds
