King lost complete control of the entire heavyweight division because he didnt sign Douglas to future options before the fight. He made a massive mistake by only signing Douglas to one fight. King knew without the titles he was going to have a hard time holding on to Tyson and Tyson was trying to leave King because of it.

King tried and he found out quickly how no one was going to buy the long count nonsense. I remember they had a press conference after the fight in New York after Mike and Don landed, and even Mike in the press conference was counting to prove it was a long count. That is a case of King realizing no one was going to give Mike back a title he clearly lost.

I have a lot of respect for Russel.

He was a man of integrity, and perhaps the only person on Douglas's team who pursued his interests consistently.

He despised Don King for some very good reasons.

Does anyone know why Giachetti wasn't in Buster's corner against Tyson?
