The thing needs to be realized is that Pascal and his people could probably pony up enough money for a rematch with or without HBO.

Good luck trying to convince the promoters otherwise...

We already know INTERBOX doesn't want Bute fighting at 175lbs right away. If Dawson can and is willing to go all the way down to 168lbs....that almost forces them to take it.

You haven't answered my question, kid.

Bute is the most popular boxer in Montreal, that's a fact.
Montreal is a good boxing city, that's also a fact.
    What's your problem again?

It's irrelevant and I'm not obligated to answer to you, kid!

Bute most popular boxer in MTL, yeah probably....what an achievement that is!

Montreal a good boxing city? No that your opinion, and obviously a biased one.

Dawson and Diaconu were going to fight until Diaconu pulled out with 10 days to go, leaving Dawson to fight Epi Mendoza instead.

The second time Dawson had a better offer on the table from Tarver, who was a bigger name, higher ranked, and the fight was for more money, so why the heck would he have fought Diaconu?

And there's no reason for him to fight Diaconu now - he already lost twice to Pascal.

Quit with your lies and misinformation, FINITO.

The two were negotiating. Negotiations fell apart. The Super Six was announced two weeks later. You do the math.

And I can't believe someone said Montreal isn't a good boxing city. They sold 8,000 seats for Andrade-Lucas. They sell 6,000 seats for Lemieux's fights, and he's not even facing real challenges yet. They sold over 6,000 seats for Bradley-Holt, and Bradley can't even sell half that fighting at home.

There can't be a rematch clause because it's a mandatory. WBC rules prohibit it.

There's some wrinkle in the WBC rules though. I'll look it up. Did an article on it not long ago.

EDIT: WBC rules say you can't negotiate an option on a mandatory bout, but they also say that if the champion loses to the challenger, then the champion's promoter may take an option on the challenger unless it's prohibited by local law. So as long as it's allowed in Quebec, if Dawson wins, GYM would have an option on Dawson, effectively granting them a rematch clause. On the other hand, if Dawson vacates the belt, then he wouldn't need to rematch, since it's not contractual.

They can't have immediate rematch clause... that's why they would both fight one fight in-between if a rematch was needed/wanted.

I never said Montreal was the Mecqua of boxing. You said that I said it, pumpkin. I said it was a good boxing city. Any city where 16 000 people sit for a boxing card is a good boxing city. That's not an opinion. That's a fact. Wanna be more stupid and say the contrary?

So, you don't want to say who your favourite boxer is. Of course, you're not obligated to. If you did, all your hating agenda would be known by every one.

call it the way you like, but Bute's coach already tell the media that it's pretty hard to go up and then go down again (in the case of Bute, since he is a big SMW). So is it a secret way to duke everyone in a pretty weak division, or is it that since Bute have a belt in 168, he wants to keep there until he cannot make the weight anymore and then go up? Maybe a little of both, who knows? But not me and not you; speculations are not facts even if you say or write it again and again.

Thank you for reminding us that boxing is a business. Maybe it's not for the best, but this business needs to produce money, so if more money are elsewhere, than it will go where the money is.
