Agreed 100% But im still conviced Bute earn more from that fight then Andrade even if we can argue all night long about the end of the fight! one thing for sur i would never count Andrade out of fight till the really end!
bute was in easy but he did the job, good in between warm up fight to stay in shape and he fought great KOing Zuniga before Pavlik
Really, I don't think anyone expected him to dispatch Zuniga as quickly and as decisively as he did, and he deserves some credit for that. You will likely see Bute-Andrde some time this year, but in the interim, as long as he continues to stay busy, and show improvements in terms of his skill-set then that's all you can ask of him.
A lot? He's gone to the other fighter's backyard 3 times - Mundine (Palle lost the purse bid), Sturm (who was by far the bigger attraction) and Calzaghe (who was by far the bigger attraction). It's all basic economics.
Kessler looked like he had gone to war by the end of the fight. Prior to minute 36, both fighters won every minute of every round, but Andrade landed a hell of a lot more clean shots on Kessler than he did on Bute. Bute wore himself out and got his ass kicked in the last minute. Fortunately, he was up by 8 and the fight ended. Had there been 10 seconds left in the fight, Andrade would have won, but I just don't understand how there's a controversy. Wright was a crappy referee, but under the Marquis of Queensbury rules, as well as the IBF rules, all Bute needed to do when the fight was already over was get on his feet. Bute was clearly up by 8, even if you give him a fast count.
Apologies, my mistake. I forgot Berrio won the vacant tiltle. But let's face it...it was Berrio's first defence of a title he won when it was vacant. Then I guess we have differing views on what 'world class' is. I would say A level guys are world class. And Decebal, I have absolutely nothing against Bute at all, I like him in fact. He's 29 but still has tonnes of potential. The division is there, with names and quality opposition, so that if he really wanted it, he could take it over and become P4P. He has the ability. I totally agree that Bute is B or B+ right now, but I don't think that is 'world class'. The Andrade fight was a huge setback though really. Kessler made Andrade look horrible and surely Bute should handled a basic come-forward fighter much better. I think he will eventually erase that memory from people's minds in time. However, when people start saying he "dominated Andrade better than Kessler til the last minute of the fight", this is clearly bull****, so I point it out.
Bute did a better job than Kessler Why is it Bute was worn down to the extent he was very nearly knocked out if he was doing so much better than Kessler? Did that just...happen? I think people like to ignore the other times Bute was stunned by Andrade also.
Almost all people who use A,B, C, etc to describe performance use: A=elite e.g. Pacquaio - would give almost anyone in history a close, competitive fight B=world class e.g Bute - would give almost anyone active right now a close, competitive fight C=continental level (Euro Champ, etc.) e.g. Marco Huck D=domestic e.g. Tony Dodson :good
Kessler dominated every minute against Andrade, Bute did not. There were rounds (like round 5-6) where the ref had to break up the action to help Bute. Bute is really good and one of my favorite fighters, but let's keep it real. For 11 rounds he did well - but not quite as well as Kessler who hardly got hit. After the Kessler-fight Andrade said that "I just couldn't hit him - I tried and he was gone. I will only fight him against if he promises to let me win a round". Against Bute he said that he had him wounded several times in the fight and that he always thought it was a question of time. HOWEVER - I still see Bute - Kessler as a 50 - 50 fight. Yes, Kessler shut out andrade a bit beter than Bute, but that matters very little if Bute and Kessler meet.
I think Bute/Kessler is a very attractive fight and would turn out to be a fantastic blend of styles. I have it 70/30 in favour of Kessler but you can't rule out Bute's speed and southpaw stance completely. He just didn't do better than Kessler against Andrade's style. It didn't happen.
Bute has less than 25 fights and is already defending a major world title on showtime. its completely different. are boxing fans ******ed? Bute has stepped up his competition faster than most american fighters. Let alone guys like Hatton.
I'd give him a solid B+ right now- his only real flaws that I can see is that he needs to manage his stamina better so he doesn't fade at the end of fights, and he likes to carry his right low while in range a little too often for my tastes; but, from what I've seen so far, he's never been outboxed in the first 2/3 of a fight and shows a very good beard until he gets tired. Handspeed, punch placement, use of angles, control of distance...he's got alot of intangibles working for him and is a tough out for anyone. He's a damn good all around fighter and if he's not genuine world class, I'd love to hear from anyone else how being a top 3 guy in your division is anything less than that. :thumbsup
Bute's beard has little to do with him getting tired. When you're tired, you collapse, even if just pushed. Bute collapsed because he was tired. You or I could have pushed him over. He was falling down anyway, on his own. Nothing to do with his beard, Rock, but with the fact that he gassed badly at the end. :good
