He's second best by default, let's at least be real about it. He's second because the other "best guys" have beat each other, he hasn't necessarily taken that spot by beating any of the best guys in the division.
He was second best when the S6 kicked off. He was #2, and Andrade #3 when they first met. Andrade was #5 when Bute knocked him out.
So Ward is the new person nuthuggers are strapped on? We know now its Ward who doesn't want to fight Bute and not the other way around.

Ward and Froch rightfully over took him in the rankings thanks to the tournament. Bute's wins over Bika, Miranda, Andrade, and Johnson are very good-excellent. Froch's best wins are Johnson, Pascal, Taylor, and Abraham..due to particulars like Pascal's upset of Dawson and Taylor bringing the prestige of being a former middleweight Champion, Froch's resume looks better than it really is on paper. In reality, Froch and Bute's resumes aren't that far apart. Really only Ward has a clearly better active resume in the division. I also trust my eyes and Bute and Ward are two of the best fighters today.
