Did Muhammad Ali get in a wheelchair to fight Holmes?

 

I don’t understand how bean could be favored. Ali at 38 was still better than some of the bums who Butterbean lost to. Yeah Ali was horribly diminished against Holmes but he was also in there with a top five all time great who was at his pinnacle.

 

Yeah? Did you conduct the prefight medicals on him when you made this diagnosis, dr antman? Ha ha

 

No there was footage on youtube and his speech ws impaired in interviews around that time.

 

He had parkinson`s, this is insane!

 

He couldn`t even stand on one leg that long in the medical.

Yes he did… and butterbean had morbid obesity and a severe lack of skill.

 

Butterbean would tire himself out against Ali doing the rope a dope, and Ali stops him in the middle rounds.

Butterbean is not Larry Holmes ’80. No. I don't think Butterbean would win, least of all to knock out Muhammad Ali (because no one did; a man who is not healthy fought against Holmes RTD).
Especially after round 4 Butterbean would be in trouble.

 

IMHO, Ali, at that point in his career, would have used the Rope-a-dope with Butterbean. Every time Butterbean came at him Ali would have countered, which, even in Ali's diminished condition, would probably have worked against Butterbean. So, if Butterbean laid back, making it a very dull fight, and came rarely (likely after a few counters), Ali would have won a decision.

 

These votes for Ali cannot be serious. Their were rounds Ali literally wasn't throwing any punches.

 

It's surprising how even it is so far.

EDIT: In that sense, it seems to the thread was successful; an "even" match from the forum's perspective.

 

Butterbean, as unskilled as he was. would've defeated Ali with ease. And he's not even the worst fighter I'd favor to beat that version of Ali. A ridiculous proposition.

 

Allegedly (who knows), Holmes was pulling his shots when he realized Ali had absolutely nothing left.

Going off how Butterbean was absolutely trying his best to knock Larry's head clean off in their fight, I don't think he'd have held anything back vs a faded Ali. Then again, Larry was pissing him off.
