Good luck Byrd. We'll definitely see if this is the end for him. Although I personally think he's done.
Hope he starts with a couple top 80-100 guys, real horses if he does, before he even considers fighting somebody legit. Test his legs with no chance of getting hurt. Always seemed like a good guy, potential TV analyst.
Didnt his wife say after the George fight something like if he fights again she would leave him and that he should definitely retire now.
No, ridiculous. He should not fight on. Doesn't matter if he was sick or legitimately got his ass kicked last time out...the fact is that happened, and those hard repeated blows will have left an impression. He's been stopped 3 times in his last 4 fights, two of those quite brutally, and he's arguably been on the slide since 2003 anyway. This won't end well.
To bad Chris didn't try Lt Heavy 10 years ago... I hope him well, but he has nothing left to prove in my eyes.
Someone's got to pay the mortgage. I think deserves another shot to see if he can adjust to the weight. He's more than earned it. But what about George? Will someone please fight him?
Good point actually. Not making excuses either :good His weight loss was much greater than DLH's. He has a valid argument as to his poor performance. Still, he looked completely shot, just as bad as ODLH, and I really wonder how he would perform again. He would need to take a very soft touch first fight, an 8 rounder and a paid to be their opponent, just to get rounds in.
May as well fight Roy Jones. Good win for one of them to go out on you'd think. But then again the win'd probably persuade them to fight on and get thrashed in another title shot or eliminator.
Just what the Calzaghe nuthuggers needed. This would definitely in their eyes cement their idols GOAT status. Imagine ESB after Calzaghe plasters Byrd and wins by landslide. You'll get to read these comments: "Beating a former two-time heavyweight champ. Joe is definitely the greatest fighter of the last 50 years. Nobody has done before or since." If it was just as simple as that. By the way. They already have something to work on the promotion, Cal beat Byrd at the amateurs.
It seems a bit far fetched, but, I guess given that he did lose so much weight, so fast, maybe he has a point.
It's his head.. I thought he learned from that beating he recieved at the hands of George. If he want's another crack at it, it's his right to do so.
