Kessler schooled Andrade pretty much the entire fight and laid so much heavy leather on him without falling, it made Antonio Margarito and Jake La Motta proud. Another champ Bute was not as dominant as Kessluer for 10 1/2 rounds and was KTFO, but the correct ruling was applied as Bute beat the count.

Who are we comparing him against?

He's at the bottom end of an all-time great list for me. It's not outstanding resume wise, but the overall package puts him there for me.

Hopkins could have just as easily moved to SMW to fight Calzaghe, as Calzaghe could have moved up to LHW to fight Jones. I also wonder why Hopkins jumped over SMW to LHW? Calzaghe would have been a nice trophy to add as Hopkins was moving up.

Once was ? He's ten times the fighter now ! What would you consider Hopkins prime ? Around the Trinidad fight ?

Coronacards you seem to have a lot to say on this subject. You can only fight who is there at the time. In all your posts in this thread you have not named one fighter that Calzaghe could have taken on to improve his resume.

    So who are they?

Hold on a sec I hear allot of hate direteced towards the level of op that Joe faced while he ruled the super middle weight division but lets not act like Hopkins was getting the same type of scrutiny for the people he fought in his not so steller division ! Both men dominated very week divsions !

He could've fought anyone on the top of the lists in the 175lb. division. He could've taken less than 9 years to fight for a belt other than defending his WBO strap.
He could've gone for INSERT BIG NAME FIGHTER from 160-175 before 2006.

Come on, 90% of americans and sports writers had lacy walking through calzaghe and knocking him out. Retrospective commentary is always easy.
I am sure peeps could post a list of columnists who had lacy winning against calzaghe. Unbiased observers were in the majority for Lacy.

I hope Lacy beats Taylor so then you will have Calzaghe destroying Lacy who beat the man who beat Popkins closer to his prime . Thats how we roll baby :nut

    Give me some names.

You seem to give Calzaghe grudging credit for fighting Lacy and finally doing something in 2006, but IMO many of the fighters he fought before this, such as Reid and Woodhall would have beaten Lacy handily.

It would be more enlightening if you inserted them.

Otherwise we end up just making a list of different fighters that Calzaghe could have fought instead of the ones he did.

He was accused of ducking Johnson, who, when he called Jpe out, knew Joe was injured..of course, Glen had his hands full with Clinton Woods, who joe would chew up and spit out,
Then came the haters knight in armor...the haters God...Lacy. Joe had to postpone, and was called a coward...ducker...etc...Then when he banged Lacy, he was not given credit, but instead, the haters favorite name calling of Lacy, came out= " overrated " Over hyped "
Give up you haters...you're all phonies:twisted:
