Just seems a waste of time for both to me. Ryder will lose comfortably and could get himself paid as well for a softer touch for a “world” title. He’ll be back to obscurity afterwards. For Smith it’s a good fighter that no one knows about and will get little credit for...
I think ryder might do him. If he can take one to land one without getting buzzed like groves did and lay into that long body of the plank.
Hardly a waste of time for Calum considering the time he's been out. He needs a run out. It's an ideal fight for him if you ask me. Also, I imagine Ryder will be well paid for taking a heavy defeat. If he doesn't, he needs new management.
Since moving up to 168, Ryder should have 6 straight wins. He beat Fielding imo. He’s starched his last 4 opponents. He’s not to be dismissed or taken lightly, I can see why the negotiations with Eubank broke down because he’s a very dangerous fight and you get very little kudos if you do beat him. Saunders went life and death with him. He’s got power at 168, he’s a southpaw and he can mix it up on the inside as well as box from the outside. He’s a very difficult nights work for Callum & a potential banana skin.
It would require a big name like GGG. The only way Smith v BJS would sell out Anfield is if they caught the public's imagination after a first fight at the Echo or MEN, similar to Groves/Froch but highly doubt it with BJS style.
Trust me he’d probably sell Anfield out against Brophy or Tommy Langford. Scousers love an event like this with one of their own, there’d be the novelty factor at the stadium too. If people hear people/media talking about something everyone who hasn’t even heard of him would go. We live in the era of the Instagram sheep.
Callum has never been a big tickt seller. Not a chance he fills a stadium unless its against a HUGE name like Canelo.
