Well if people consider that Old ******* Hopkins as being worthy of being considered then JC certainly is at least worthy of consideration

Yes, good post. The best ever Cruiser (clearly) who then became an ATG heavy. Worthy of consideration in this discussion.

Hopkins has a better record than Calzaghe. His opposition over 20 defenses at middleweight is better than Calzaghe's at super-middleweight. Not by a country mile, but its better.

People may well say De La Hoya and Trinidad were smaller fighters moving up in weight, but both were quality fighters. Trinidad was the favourite over Hopkins mainly due to his power. Echols, Jackson, Allen, Joppy, etc. Also solid contenders. Apart from Lacy and Kessler, Calzaghe has mostly fought C level opponents.

If thats not good enough. Hopkins went up two weights after coming off two defeats and beat Tarver. Lets not forget, Hopkins wasn't given a prayer against Tarver.

And while Wright wasn't a natural light-heavyweight, Hopkins was hardly massive at the weight either. Again, Wright was a highly skilled defensive operator who had never been beaten so decisevely before.

Calzaghe is probably a league above Duran.

Look, I am going to come clean. Calzaghe is a league above every other boxer in history. Jones with intangibles, Duran with more speed and skill. I'm not going to conceal my true beliefs anymore just to sound more reasonable.

Two years ago what is now 'fact' amongst all boxing fans regarding Calzaghe would have been laughed at two years ago. In another decade Calzaghe will be a lock for the top 15 of all time.

Joe is a step above say a Murray Sutherland. Not much more than that though.

Slappy Calzaghe gave Hopkins a boxing slapping lesson :deal:

Your comment is very stupid when Calzaghe beat Hopkins' ass

And before you talk about age. - Calzaghe was 36 and at the end of his career and had badly damaged hands- he only had one fight 6 months after it and retired.. Hopkins was 43, and carried on for 9 years after! Beat Pavlik in his very next fight and went on to unify world titles and beat Pascal, Cloud, Shumenov, etc

Past prime almost retired,, injured Calzaghe schooled Hopkins in his own backyard! jeez imagine what he'd have done to him in his prime!

Why the hell not! I'm not an ordinary Joe like yourself I don't conform to 'normal'.

And yes Calzaghe schooled Hopkins in his own backyard deal with it.
