I watched the Hanshaw fight live, and until that late knockdown, I felt it very possible to score for Hanshaw, and was very nervous for Roy. Everyone knows Roy even remotely close to his best would have eaten a fighter like Hanshaw alive, but that fight was very much life and death.. Trinidad also roughed Roy up a bit in the first few rounds, until Roy's size took over.. Roy just put his hands up in a Winky Wright style guard and walked at him.. That was not the real Roy Jones, or Trinidad for that matter who was semi retired and blown up way beyond his best fighting weight. Still though, I admit I bought the fight and was very entertained. Calzaghe and Hopkins were still at the elite level, with big wins over world champs.. Roy had not had one of those wins in a long time.. He was not at that level anymore... I think Calzaghe and Hopkins were both past their very best, but calling either one of them shot when they fought is laughable to me. Just as laughable as trying to hype up Roy's "winning streak" is... that was a money fight for both, and a retirement party for Joe, that is how I rate it. Though I do believe Roy had it in his head to try and end the night for Joe early.. The punch that knocked Joe down missed its mark slightly,I honestly believe Roy did not intend to hit Joe with his forearm , but Roy was going for the KO there. I bought Jones-Calzaghe as well, and after the first round, I knew Roy was in hot water, back in the ring with a fighter he couldn't deal with.
Who is THEM? Them indicates more than one person, so who else are you referring to other than Hopkins in his 40s?
In defense of Joe, he fought a still very good Bernard Hopkins.. I think Calzaghe and Hopkins would have been an ugly close fight at any point in their careers. At least we got to see them fight each other at the elite level. But I think both would always have trouble dealing with an elite level Roy Jones.
How on earth can you be serious about Joe Calzaghe??? The twit could not throw a legitimate scoring punch. A few weeks before the Calzaghe-Jones jr farce was announced Slappy was insulting Roy calling hiom over the hill & shot. Then suddenly when slappy is offered the fight Jones suddenly becomes a living legend one of the greats again Slappy is screaming from the rooftops calling himself a legend killer. :rofl:rofl Slappy would make a better Queen than a king lol
why do you think I am referring to joe? I clearly said Cowardzaghe. You must be admitting that Joe is a Cowardzaghe..... wow, quite an admission of truth from you there.
