Joe retires rather than fight dawson and froch..........

it was all about the money and at the time "Calzaghe wouldnt have filled a parish church"

Collins is probably number 5 in terms of being a boxer but in terms of fearlessness and hard *******ness he was number 1 without a doubt the whole he was scared of joe just doesnt wash

I find it tough to split Benn and Eubank - the rest is simple.

    1. Jones
    2. Calzaghe
    3. Benn/Eubank
    5. Collins

Chris got seriously jammy on both occasions against Watson and didn't deserve a draw in the second fight against Benn.

To explain my choiches snd before i explain these it is only my opinion,id admit i mite b slightly biased due to where im from, but the reason collins for me is no.2 is easy he beat both eubank and benn twice all three men are similar ages 2 years at most is the bigest age diff between them so they should of been in prime at round same time,he also did not only fight at home,he was willing to fight in whoever he was fighting home countrt between the 3 men of there era eubank benn collins he lost least fights, admittely its luks like he backed out of calzaghe fight, but he was willing to come out of retirement to fight jones only for a doctor to stop his plans.this was a far younger and hungrier jones

On resume alone... Benn V Calzaghe

Opponent wise I think Benn's resume is perhaps better then Calzaghes - but if you beef up the Hopkins win that may change things. Calzaghes achievements perhaps out-weight Benns though - but unlike Benn, Joe was largely unwilling to Travel (Hopkins fight excluded). Benn must get credit for going Stateside early, and taking on the top men in their own backyard - it adds more to those wins on his resume (he deserves a nod for that).

Benn, has McClellan and Iran Barkley. Iran Barkley beat Hearns twice (ok perhaps not the best version - but it's one who went on to draw against Sugar Ray Leonard). Barkley picked up the WBC middleweight title, the IBF super-middleweight title, and the WBA light-heavyweight title in his time. Thats a tad better then what Lacy, or Kessler ever did so far.

    Benn.........Calzaghe
    McClellan - Kessler
    Dewitt - Hopkins
    Iran Barkley - Jeff Lacy
Eubank (prime, draw/win) - Eubank (somewhat past prime)
    Malinga - Reid

Where you place them in relation to each other also boils down to, the above wins, Benns loses, and how much credit you give Joe for his WBO - largely domestic fought - unbeaten run. And also how much credit you give to Benn for going stateside early, and fighting there.

Jones did a lot of running in his career like against past his prime Mike M. But Joe c should of came 2 the states, also. Benn had a punchers chance to knocking both of them out.
