That was to Ottkay Urkal, interestingly.

Another nice one, Calzaghe KO'd Chris Byrd in the amateurs.

    Congrats to Calzughe...I picked Kessler....
still wanted to see Ottka fight him.
Kessler was in his prime, had no excuses like being beaten by Ottka, and the old man beat him.
I don't think Kessler was exposed like Lacy, just out fought.
Now I GOT TO TAKE A CLEARER LOOK AT YOUR GUY.

    I had it 115-113 - 1, 3, 4, 7 and 12 - round 1 could also be given to Calzaghe or a tie. 116-112 is ok with me - 118-110 isn't.

I think the rounds where very very close - not could go either way close, but close. All in all a very close fight - although Calzaghe clearly had the edge - especially in the second half.

Lederman had it 10 rounds to 2. A lot of the rounds were close-ish which creates the illusion of a 'close-fight' - but it wasn't, Kessler was lucky to be given 3 rounds.

115-114 is generous to kessler to the point of being rediculous.

The only rounds Kessler definetly won were 4 and 12. I think he also won 7. you could argue that he won round 1, but that's pretty thin.

Congratz to Joe. I was for Kessler, but Calz proved he is the man! Both great and classy fighters. Calz is just better.

Anyone for a rematch, this time in Copenhagen?

9-3 or 8-4 for Calzaghe are acceptable scores for this fight. one judge had it 120-108, a shut-out which is totally ludicrous.

I thought is was closer than most have it......

    I scored 116-114 for Calzaghe!

    I scored rounds 4, , 7, 8, and 12 for Kessler......

    rounds 1, 3, 6, 9, 10, and 11 for Calzaghe.

    Rounds 2 and 5 I had even!

I can understand the diversity of the scores because alot of these rounds were razor close.

Calzaghe was the busier fighter throughout, but Kessler imo has landed the better cleaner shots up to round 8!

A combination of Kessler just losing some steam and Calzaghe adjusting the intensity of his shots by lessening and varying it in rounds 9 thru 11 are what won Calzaghe the fight.
Calzaghe if not dominated, won rounds 9 thru 11 clearly.

At the end of the day however, Kessler was only a round away from a draw on my scorecard.
Calzaghe winning the late rounds but the 12th, I think gave the impression that he dominated more than he really did!

It was a competative fight but it wasnt close man.

I was there live and my scorecard was 9-3 Calzaghe. HBO had it 10-2

    1.Calz
    2.Calz
    3.Calz
    4.Kess
    5.Calz
    6.Calz
    7.Kess
    8.Calz
    9.Calz
    10.Calz
    11.Calz
    12.Kess

Re-watch the 8th round man, which you gave to Kessler, theres no way in hell Calzaghe lost that round, he cleanly outboxed him.

Look at the compubox numbers man, Calzaghe outlanded Kessler in total punches, punches landed, power punches, and jabs 10 rounds to 2. The 2 rounds where Kessler threw and landed more than Calzaghe were surprise surprise the only 2 rounds that Kessler won clearly - Rounds 4 and 7.

    Hi Divac.

I also thought it was closer than what people say 116-112 I had it.
Kessler did land the better and cleaner punches, the problem was Calzaghe threw and landed twice as many. The most significant punches were landed by Kessler though. The 2 uppercuts in round 4, the big right hand at the end of 12th, Calzaghe landed a nice body shot that hurt Kessler but othr than that he mostly jabed and threw slaps.

    I corrected my post above.
Originally I credited the 5th in my post as both a round to Kessler and an even round.
    The 5th I scored even!

    6 rounds to 4 and 2 even.....or 116-114 Calzaghe!
