I agree, there records are actually pretty similar with Hopkins only edging it at this point. If Joe cleaned out LHW and beat a SMW Pavlik he would be above him.
I agree with this because lets not forget who Nard has defeated: DLH and Trinidad I would compare those acomplishments to Lacy and Kessler slight advantage to Nard, however Nard has had some terrible defeats to Jermain.
Should have said of a simlar level. Hopkins MW comp when he was deending the IBF was less than great, but better than Calzaghes. But you have to take the wins he had in his relitive prime; Jones and Taylor and the draw with draw with Mercado into account when looking at his record. So Hopkins is better but not far away.
Just another reason why i can't stand delusional Calzaghe fans. You guys are just way out there. :nut

About top 50 with two more good wins sounds right. If Kessler turns out to be a HOF Joe's dominance will look that much better in 10 years.
Yeah, he's easilly top 20 p4p today. I'd say top 5, his huggers will say no. 2. I ain't even talkin' all time sense, cause it's as plain as day that this thread is talking about TODAY, and not all time. It's more logistically correct to say Calzaghe falls within the top 20 boxers of 2008 than to even debate whether he's in the top 20 of all time.
Cleaning out LHW would put him WAY above Hopkins. Hopkins has yet to defeat a prime, elite level natural MW or higher, Calzaghe's already defeated one definitively, a win over Dawson makes two. Overrated former Welterweights just don't count to me as serious wins.
Yes. Sorry guys I didnt clarify that I wasnt talking about all time I mean in the near future, 15 years maybe? Im a calzaghe fan, but im not like a poster here called mastercalzaghe
