This boggles the mind. Anyone that has followed Hopkins carrer would place his prime from about 1997-2002 based on how good he looked on film. Faster, more power behind his punches, better workrate, and stamina. To be fair Joe is about 2-3 years past his best as well.

    the first fight was terrible
    they both hate each other
no point in a rematch at all
joe should retire or have a domestic fight in cardiff against froch or someone then retire.

Joe didn't give him the rematch, WBO did.

What do you mean "B-Hop doesn't want a rematch?" He just said he did, and yet Joe is the one who's backing away!

And seriously, that dry-humping had nothing to do with anything boxing-wise.

To Joe's credit he stated he was planning on retiring after the RJJ fight BEFORE Hopkins wanted this rematch. Thus i think its Hopkins way of trying to get one over on Calzaghe, (challenging him to a rematch knowing hes retiring in 3 weeks time, and trying to make Calzaghe look like a chicken instead).
Bottom line is, Hopkins had his chance at him once and failed....time for him to accept he lost to a well below par Calzaghe already, and to let it go and move on with his life

hopkins (because of the money) and everybody else would prefer RJJ/Hopkins 2 however calzaghe will narrowly beat roy and if calzaghe looks to continue a rematch is a the only fight for both. lets just hope roy can win

I can tell you are a real Einstein. STFU noob. Yeah that WBO title is real precious. It warranted a mandatory Mario Veit rematch; but Bernard does not deserve one and your excuse is because Joe was hiding behind a joke belt.

Thats ok though keep your pathetic arguement behind those "defenses" while Hopkins keeps fighting the Tarvers, Winkys, Pavliks, Trinidads, Taylors, and Johnson's of the boxing world. At least the man tries to gain a legacy.

PROOF, CONFIRMATION and VALIDATION that his win on the first fight wasn't a fluke.

It sounded to me as if Bernard was more interested in a rematch with Roy seeing as he was calling him out on the mike. Of course Bernard wants rematches. He lost to both of them. Honestly, the Calzaghe/Hopkins fight was a rather ugly, boring fight. I'm not real excited to relive it and I thought it was pretty decisive that Calzaghe won. The footwork and timing he used against Pavlik won't work against JC. It'll be the same friggin fight with Bernard probably having a harder time, being even older now. Calzaghe will out work him and Bernard will spend all of his energy trying to stifle JC's offense. And for as much Hopkins stifle Calzaghe's offense, Joe stifles him even more. You can't win a fight if all you do is clinch.

There would be money to be made if the fight is Joe's living room where all of his relatives, surely, would be willing to pay. It would erase any doubt of his first win.
Then again, there's a possibility that he could get embarassed. From his point of view, it's understandable. From my point of view, he's a *****!

I read a comment from some nob who said that the if the hopkins that fought pavlik had turned up against calzaghe, it would have been a shutout by hopkins. I had to laugh man, how can some people not see that hopkins just could not control calzaghe like he did pavlik. Hopkins just bullied pavlik especially in the tenth where he broke his heart. Hopkins controlled the first six rounds of calzaghe fight but joe being the talent he is adjusted and made hokins fight his fight, hence he won. Pavlik just got schooled, and calzaghe would have schooled him too.
