**Calzaghe Splits With Warren**

He lost a considerable amount to his wife in that difforce settlement , he'd have a huge amount of his purse percentage taken away(like every fighter) to pay for trainer(usually about 10% I think) , promoter/manager , cutsman + others . This leaves most fighter with about 40% or so but I'd say Joe being with Warren probably got more than that .

Don't forget tax , I don't know what the higher rate of tax is in Britain but here in Ireland it's about 42% .

So lets say he earned $16 million dollars in his career purse wise .
You can take about 7 million away from the expenses(trainer, manager etc)
That leaves 9 million , minus tax(at Irish rates) that leaves a little over $5.2 million .

Now his wife got something like £2million($4 million) so that leaves $1.2 million or £600,000 . Now I've probably over estimated something and underestimated something else and he probably has ended up making more but it just shows you how fighter purses can be eaten into big time and when a guy gets a $1 million dollar purse he'll be lucky to see $ 400,000 of it . Fighters earn less than some might think .


BTW Calzaghe v Jones in Wales would make more for Joe than Pavlik in America . No I'm not saying that justifies the fight , just that if it is money he's after then Jones is the better option . Preferably I'd like to see Calzaghe fight both with Pavlik being first but.............

 

If Pavlik is such a f**king killer , why is it so imperative he fights a 36 year old champ , who most will admit is starting to slip a little when he has a 28 year old rival champ in his own division ?

Joe has nowt left to prove if he wants to fight Jones ( a fight that has been talked up for years mind , regardless of what Jones now is ) for some mucho dinero in Cardiff , all power to him.

I think Kelly is going to have a great career and I look forward to watching it but do you see him chasing the young lions when HE is 36 and looking for one more and out ??

 

calzaghe aint a boxer anyway, he is a slapper, roy will just take them slaps and laugh at him, RJJ will box keep his distance and then finish him late in to the fight.

how is RJJ more easier to sell to the public, pavlik just beat lockett, people in britain are beginning to recognise him, you see highlights of pavlik v lockett all the time on setanta but i've never seen them showing RJJ vs Tito again, the reason he aint fighting pavlik is because he is shitting it, not because RJJ will make him more money. its easier to sell a fight between two undefeated fighters then between one undefeated fighter and someone else who is way past his prime, but thankfully RJJ can still open a can of whoop ass on calzaghe.

 

Americans would hate to see Joe beat Roy. No matter the 'Roy is over it anyway so it doesn't matter' - fact is that Americans would truely hate it.

 

I'm America and I don't think he is a big fighter yet. $$$>Pavlik. That fight can happen in the future of 09. Pav has to fight Abraham anyway

 

Again not me don't care who wins even though Roy is my favorite of all time. Just wish it could be a draw. But I still think Roy has an excellent chance. Hope it happens in Vegas, so I can go

Whether he was to win or lose against Pavlik, he wont make the sort of cash he could against Jones

 

Pavlik called him out---pavliks trainer called him out--pavliks promoter called him out and hes ducked them all.

Dude I like Pavlik too but he should concentrate on fighting his own generations fighters and then we he gets to 36 years old and is still undefeated and has beaten all the guys of his era he can pick and choose who he wants to finish off with

Joe has little to gain from this considering the risk and cavalier is not what Joe calzaghe is when it comes to his career !

 

Is Pavlik ducking Abraham to chase the declining fighter ?

 

Funny how in Wales its a big fight they dont care who he fights I think its a big lie. I think the Kelly fight would be huge in the U.S. they will have the Calzaghe fans regardless of who he fights......Im telling you they can promote the hell out of Cazaghe vs Pavlik!! the Punching power the fact Joe tasted canvas,,the fact Kelly dyestroyed Taylor who spanked BHop twice....the Lockette beatdown and him being in Enzo's stable, that fight makes more money than Jones, and Warren Knows it. For Warren its probably about money and he isnt probably concerned with legacy.

I think Joe isnt as confident, He started to to change his tune right after BHop. Lockette was sent in for comparison to see what he could do and report back to team Calzaghe, Seems like what they saw sent them running to Jones. Im glad beacuse a more obvious duck cant be had. How can people still admire this guy after this? In post after post the guy has really lost what little respect and momentum his career ever had and people like me will justifiably call out this guy as a fraud. I believe Joe is a good fighter but he could be so much more and maybe thats the problem he is just a very good champ and nothing more, maybe we should be happy with that. There is nothing wrong with that.

Its when this guy is held up to be something that he is not thats when I lose it, because I know the dues paid by guys like Mosely and Mike Mcallum, Charly Burley etc... Calzaghe should never be viewed as greater than these guys without ever having taken the same risks.

So I ask again if Pavlik is paying his dues why is he chasing the oldest fighter around his division ( assuming bhop stays gone ) who already has 1 foot in retirement ???

 

you blame pavlik for chasing the undisputed smw champion, ring rated nr 1 in both smw and lhw..

joe keep changing his tune.. so rightfully so, he should br critisized for it..

and lets be honest here, who knows more about, what pavliks wants or doesnt want, when it comes to boxing..

i want to see the best fight possible, and thats sure as hell isnt rjj..
