True, not everyone that has held a title is truly world class. Where you are going so far wrong is by trying to include the like likes of Reid Mitchell and Brewer in their number despite them having upwards of 30 world title bouts between them. Stop being a dick about it. If Reid was prime now only Kessler and Bute would have more than an evens chance against him. And I'm not sure about Bute. When Joe fought him he was world class. Trying to imply anything else just makes you look stupid I'm affraid.
Reid, Brewer and Mitchell were, as I have stated, adequate opposition. Those are the types of guys that make up any champion's resume. Not every fight can be a superfight. They were adequate. Calzaghe was a strong favourite to beat them, and he did. The problem with Calzaghe's career is that this was all he did for 9 years as a world champion. He never punctuated the sequence of defences v adequate (or often poor) opposition by chasing and securing fights with the big names at the weights around him. That cannot be denied. The record 1997-2006 speaks for itself, history will recognize that, and there's nowt Joe can do about it now. Despite what u think, I hope he fights Pavlik and can at least end with a flourish. His career would be a tragic waste of talent if he doesn't. Adios.
