Calzaghe to fight Pavlik after Jones?

I agree, but I honesty can't see Joe taking that fight because stlywise Dawson presents Joe with more problems then Pavlik. Dawson, though not great, has a slickness that Joe hates fighting against. Hence why he has never mentioned a match up. Fighters who can bang are no real problem to joe, generally, but the slicker types are.

I actually think JC is serious about retirement. The RJJ fight may indeed be his last fight. I give him serious credit for fighting both Lacy and Kessler. The fight with Hopkins was kind of a stinker, but was all due to Hopkins' Ruiz-esque tactics.

The obvious big fight for Pavlik is Abraham - not Calzaghe.

Think about this from JC's perspective for a moment. He probably only heard of Pavlik in the past year to year-and-a-half. However, for the past 10+ years, all he's heard is how RJJ is the man, etc., etc. RJJ has been on his radar screen for a long time. It's a fight that means more to him than a Pavlik fight ever will. At this stage of his career, I don't begrudge him for that.

 

That gives him as much prop as Pavlik all he has is Taylor .

 

Dawson would lose to Pavlik.

A: Dawson is smoke and mirrors, hasn't defeated anyone of any real note and lost to Glencoffe.

B: The supposed power and handspeed Dawson shows has not been on display against a top fighter, where did it go against Johnson?

Sorry but top fighters beat Glencoffe... even Clinton Woods managed to do it.

 

Now that would be a fight but who knows how much power Pavlik would carry at 175 ..

 

Dawson is well known by anyone studying the game to be carrying one of the biggest chins in boxing, he's managed to escape it and really rides on the back of his victory against an out of sorts Adamek who went straight up following the fight (weight issues?)

He's hailed because he's a black American with handspeed and flash, but ultimately, he's no more than another Lacy waiting to be cracked.
