Calzaghe to retire this year.

if that is true and if he beats hopkins and would be his last fight, were do you guys put him? Is he ATG?

 

ATG here in the states? HELL NO!!!!

 

Despite what the guy says, if he is still in good shape and thinks he can win pretty easily, if the money is good, he'll fight on. They all do.

 

Firstly a lot of what he says is tongue in cheek. He has stated for years he wants to retire at the top of his game and doesn't want to go on when he is no longer up to scratch.

Plus the Sun makes the Beano look a University publication.

 

I reckon if there are big fights out there for him, he'll stay motivated; if he can still perform well, he'll go after the money.

 

What was that line that Edward G. Robinson told Steve McQueen in "The Cincinnati Kid" when the old man was about to crumble to the best young poker player he had seen in 25 years?... The Kid put 35 hundred on the table and went for all or nothing against the old Lancy but lost and was through... Yes I recall that now "You're good kid, but while I'm around, you're still second best"...

 

I have been saying this for over a year and all the Calzaghe fans laugh it off.

 

yes Bhop and Dawson are the only fights the hardcore fan can get excited about.
