That's what drives me crazy about this argument...he is already considered to be the greatest Supermid fighter of all time...it is a relatively new division, which he cleaned out. His legacy has already been cemented...why not go out on your own terms?
You're all over the place here. You think Calzaghe would beat Pavlik but lose to Jones. But you think Pavlik would add more to his legacy than Jones, who is 'shot' and 'over the hill'. But you think Jones will 'find one more great fight in himself' to beat Calzaghe. So he's not 'shot'? But Calzaghe you think is past his best and his 'brittle hands' will cause him to lose to Jones. But he'll beat Pavlik. Maybe you should sort out what it is you actually think, prior to posting again.
Does anyone criticize Kostya Tszyu for not moving up and fighting in multiple divisions? No...why should Joe Calzaghe receive criticism? Why the double standard?
i must say i like calzaghe, and feel hes a great fighter (speed, skill to change style mid-fight, and a great heart) but he does not have the resume he should! lets be honest, it aint as good as alot of the top ten p4p guys!and he stayed in Wales or England all his career(not a help)! hes past his prime and undefeated, and a very skillful boxer, but he jst does not have the names he should for whatever reason..... maybe he will fight on and change that??? would of preferred calzaghe vs pavlik, and hopkins vs jones!
ya i agree, that fight must be made, for us and calzaghes legacy! But hopkins was there or thereabouts in the p4p really!! Although, hopkins beats pavlik and joes stock rises (long as he beats jones, which i think he will)
what i have said you patronising **** is that calzaghe has been poorly advised. with JONES i feel he has nothing to gain but everything to lose and that calzaghe has more chance of losing to JONES (despite him being over the hill) than PAVLIK. calzaghe will not receive credit for beating a washed up jones, yet he will be hammered from all corners if he was to lose to a washed up jones - hence a LOSE/LOSE situation. with PAVLIK i feel its a WIN/WIN situation. calzaghe has the style to beat pavlik, and it leaves a better victory on his resume. if calzaghe loses he is a 37 year old over the hill fighter who has gone out on his shield fighting the best. therefore i think he has been badly advised.
why would u do that? hes 36!! pavlik is 10 years younger! and what if pavlik loses to hopkins??what will u do then.....
Calzaghe is 37. I agree with you he can retire without fighting Pavlik because Pavlik still has unfinished business at MW e.g unifying and beating AA and Strum.
I would have no problem with Joe's Senior Circuit Tour if he hadn't spent many months talking about Pavlik, and trashed Jones as recently as just before his fight with BHop. He has made himself look like an absolute ass, and that is where most of the criticism comes from.
that Abraham fight must be next..... has to be! then calzaghe fights the winner and hopefully retires a true champion! or gets a beat down and retires a broken man..... but i have a feeling calzaghe wont ever risk his undefeated tag to either of them, especially if pavlik knocks b-hop out!
