What I saw against Trinidad was a bigger faded fighter beat a smaller faded fighter. Trinidad was 20 pounds above his prime weight, semi-retired and uninterested but he still clearly took rounds of Roy. RJJ just cant fight at an elite pace anymore and isnt the defensive wizard that BHOP is, he would rely on his reflexes to blunt Joe's attacks and they arent what they used to be.

I must say it would be a nice fairytale to see Roy come back and beat one of the best p4p fighters around, to reclaim some of his former glory. But I just dont see it happening.

What does he get out of beating RJJ? Shouldn't he be chasing the best.. not guys who were the best ten years ago? Even if he does batter Pavlik - for mine he gets more credibility by beating a current, prime world champ then a former, well past it ATG.

A massive amount of money, His first eight number pay day. The stuff you are talking is a distance second to MONEY which is what the sport is all about.

    Yeah just like David Tua.

But if that 1 dimension doesnt work then he'll be on bad side of a terrible beating.

Remember when Lacy was supposed to tear Joe a new one? I was guilty of hoping he did :-(

Roy was amazing but is washed up

Its sad to see Calzaghe going after washed up ex heroes to add some names to his resume.

What was he doing 5-10 years ago?

I think Calzaghe would beat Roy convincingly

Also i dont dislike Calzaghe, he is amazing, its just hard to comment considering he was so quiet for so long and is now doing big things against over rated guys like lacey or guys over the hill like BHOP and maybe RJJ... Kessler was a good win though.

The thing is, many were still saying that guys like bHop would beat Calzaghe. The risk/reward ratio for Joe fighting someone like Bernard was great, though as it turned out, he only won by SD.

Pavlik would TKO Calzaghe, yes, but maybe Roy will out bitchslap him. Let's not discount Roy's chances just yet.

Not too many ppl have mentioned Tarver as an opponent for Joe.

I think it would be a great fight.

I agree somewhat but I question how easy it will be to sell at this stage.

    I mean Hops dominated Tarver.

If and when Joe beats Roy maybe that could make it happen but Im not sure if Tarver beats Dawson.

But then again if Dawson has to fight Diancou, then Tarver might have to look elsewhere and probably be available to fight Joe after the Roy fight, titles still intact.
Joe always talked about fighting Tarver.

    So many different scenarios available.

Hop beats Tarver means that it rules it out being a tougher fight.
tarver beats Jones who got beat by by Hop but Hop got beat by Jones, ect.

I think this could very well over the door for...

    Jose Alberto Clavero. :p
