It's deep, but there aren't many first-tier guys. The second tier is huge though (Froch, Pascal, Zuniga, Inkin, Andrade, Bika, Lacy, Green, Miranda, etc.). The first-tier guys will all be beltholders soon, if not already (Bute already has one, Kessler is interim and probably going to be made full, and the Taylor-Lacy winner will be the mandatory for the Froch-Pascal winner), so the winner might be able to hold on to the belt for a little bit. I hope Zuniga wins. Zuniga's never ducked anyone, and he doesn't have a promoter that will coddle him like Inkin.
SMW is a good division when you look at the others I would only say that lightweight and welter are better.
One thing about 168 right now is that there is virtually no end to the great fights that could be made.
Taylor won't be the same after what Pavlik did to him. Sorry but guys like Inkin, Froch, Pascal etc are a very mediocre crop.
the IBF has only been around about 5 years longer then the WBO. WBA/WBC were the original ones. Regardless they are all crap trinkets.
It is the sign that the end is near for Cal. He has had a wonderful career. He has made a name for the 168 lb division, and I loved his style. He is the caucasian Pernell Whitaker, and in my book, he is the best Caucasian fighter, and one of the best FIGHTERS that I ever saw fight in my life time. Fanati cs call him Calslapsy, I call him a H.O.F fighter. He held the WBO title a long time. Say what you want about who he fought fanantics, but he fought prime opposition IN THEIR PRIME, and showed his legend.
Pav didn't just beat them, he knocked them spark out. See Miranda's 2 fights with Abraham for proof of "The Pavlik Effect". :good
That isn't proof lol. There is no Pavlik effect. He exposed two guys were better than average. Neither fighter could fight inside.
Zertuche??? lol...Let me know when Pav beats Abraham, and AA isn't the same fighter he once was...lol, then I'll start to believe in the Pavlik Effect lol...
I mean I like Pav, he just isn't Superman like some believe. His comp is okay, but he has not fought someone his equal yet.
